Homechek did a prepurchase inspection on a home I wanted to purchase on 8/11/22 which I ultimately settled on 9/23/22. My number one concern was the roof because of some visible dips in the OSB under the shingles. Alex refused to get on the roof but assured me that the roof was fine and the dips were just from age. Fast forward to 7/9/23 and I have two bad roof leaks. Five days later I have 2 more! Upon getting a roofer here to address the leaks I'm told that I have multiple cracks in my shingles that have been caulked and that the shingles were never installed properly per the directions on the package of architectural shingles. This is something that can be seen from the ground. Now I'm looking at a $20,000 roof replacement (if it stops there) and my drywall is cracking because I have moisture getting into my walls. I made an offer on a house based on this inspection and HomeChek failed me.
