Hynes Construction - Roofing, Siding & Gutters, Ardmore PA

Had Hynes come out for a new roof estimate. Their estimate was more than double some of my other quotes. Did not use them and now they constantly spam my email to review them. Tried unsubscribing and I still get spammed. Well here is your review.

They were professional and completed the job quickly! Very happy with our new roof. They gave a very fair estimate and actually the final cost was very close to the estimate. Would highly recommend their services!

Excellent customer service! Michelle answered all my questions with a great price. I would reccomend Hynes Construction, they did a terrific job!

Hynes did a front porch repair and renewal job for me. They did not install the railing product (Trex Transcend) listed in the contract specifically and for which I paid an upgrade charge. They won't say what they installed, but it looks exactly like the pictures of Veranda railings on the Home Depot website, a much less expensive product. Hynes initially made an offer with a price, showing a picture of Trex Select and stating they were quoting Trex Select. We traded emails and texts where I said I preferred the higher grade Trex Transcend. Hynes sent another offer with a price increase of $1290, which listed Trex Transcend specifically and listed an upgrade charge of $1290. I agreed to this contract and made all payments on time. After the job was done and I had signed off, I realized they didn't use Trex Transcend. I challenged them and they said I hadn't agreed to or paid for the upgrade. Not true. I signed and made payments per a contract that named Trex Transcend and had a price increase exactly matching the $1290 upgrade charge. After Hynes ignored all my attempts to follow up, I wrote to them asking for a little over $3000 to replace the railing with Trex Transcend or for them to replace it themselves. They ignored me. I submitted a claim in small claims court for the money to have the railing replaced. Before the hearing the Hynes lawyer pulled me aside to see if we could reach an agreement, but led with a brand new claim that I had not paid the $487 fee for the building permit. Not true. I did all the work and payment for the permit myself; drawings, application, payment; all hand delivered by me. I have the check. I explained this but the lawyer was looking for a receipt then and there. Hynes never offered me a penny. I lost in court; maybe because I was asking for total replacement, maybe because I went without a lawyer and Hynes and their lawyer successfully created enough doubt and confusion so the judge couldn't decide in my favor. Here's what I said in my final email to Hynes (with the name of the estimator removed).

I have received a notice of judgment from district court with a disposition of Judgment for Defendant, Hynes Home Improvement. I do not intend to appeal in court. I can only appeal to you.

Here is how I was treated by Hynes Home Improvement:

Hynes offered to install Trex Select in a decking and rails package.
Hynes offered to install Trex Transcend in a decking and rails package for $1290 more.
After I accepted the offer and made all payments, Hynes installed something else. I believe it is Home Depot's Veranda.

My estimate of the difference in cost between Trex Transcend and Home Depot Veranda for six sections of railing, with tax, is $1,153.53.

What am I to think of the Hynes family and the Hynes company? You just do this to people and keep the money?

By the way, your lawyer was saying to me before the hearing that Hynes paid for the building permit. I definitely paid for the permit. I can't find the receipt but I have a bank statement showing my check in the amount of $487.00 paid to Lower Merion Township, dated 6/22/22 with "Bldg Permit" in the memo. I has the number 446467 hand-written at the top, which may be the permit request number. If Hynes paid $487 to the township, it was paid twice and you should go get your money back.

I would NOT recommend them to anyone. They are the least professional contractor I have ever dealt with. Extremely difficult to communicate with and does not honor contracts and cons people out of money and lies left and right. The contract lists five to-do items for $1600 including removing the first deck board to install a z flashing on the siding and fixing the water damage in the basement from water leakage. We paid $800 as down payment. Took them two months to schedule after us hounding them weekly with phone calls. Then they don’t show up on the scheduled day and did not let us know. Then they show up two days later unannounced while no one is home. They decided on their own to put caulk around the deck without our consent and calls it a day saying that’s good enough to stop water leakage. Did not do a single thing listed on the contract and still tries to charge us the full price. We would not have accepted the contract if the job was just putting some caulk on. We would’ve just done it ourselves. When we ask for our money back, they state they can only discount it to $1200 for gas of the van they bring and insurance. They’re 20 minutes away from our house and they didn’t need a van to bring a tube of caulk. Pretty sure even with the 10 minutes of caulking work, it will not cost $1200. We will be asking for them to honor the contract or give us our money back. Or else we will be taking them to court.

I had a very good experience working with Hynes Construction! The estimator was polite and professional. The office staff was very supportive. The crew showed up on time and went above and beyond in everything I asked of them. The roof looks great, and they cleaned everyday before leaving. No Issues! The prices was great especially for the warranty they offer, and I am completely happy with my choice. Thank you Hynes Construction!

A quick inspection revealed some issues with our 20 year roof as we were thinking to sell our house. Hynes Construction responded quickly and on point. The new roof looks amazing. Great customer service and the crew was professional as well.

Was responsive from the first call throughout the whole process from scheduling and roof/gutter cleaning and repair. Pricing was competitive. I have used other services in the past but will continue with Hynes Construction in the future. I highly recommend them!

There workers damaged some of my property. The owner came out looked at it promised me he would send somebody out to fix the damages their workers called. Three weeks no response from anyone. When I did get ahold of a representative they then asked if I had proof and pretty much called me a liar. I would not do business with this company ever again!

Hynes completed a challenging reroofing on my house removing both a layer of asphalt shingles as well the original cedar shake roof. From proposal through final cleanup they accommodated my special requests and the owner inspected the work and consulted with me each of the three days work was underway. Their pricing was very competitive with the other proposals I received. I am looking forward to using them again in the future

I am lucky I found Hynes Construction that worked with me along with my insurance claim and made sure the job was completed on time. They were quick and I had a roof torn off and put on before it rained. The materials they use and warranty with the roof is the best I could get. Reasonable pricing and quality work.

Hynes Team is professional. Their team did a great job and finished on time. They also cleaned up at every day end. The crew foreman and the office were easy to communicate reach out. Glad to work with Hynes Construction!

We had 3 other roofers come to fix a leak, however they were not able to finish the job. Hynes Construction are the only ones to have succeeded. They did a tremendous job and the leak is finally fixed and the price they charge was very reasonable. Highly recommend and would use them again in future.
