Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center reviews
12I like the park. Some days are better than others in terms of bikers, horses, and loud talking hikers lol. It is a public place so you get all kinds, just like in life. Enjoy the trees and wildlife and the creek (an excellent place on a hot day). Just don't talk too loud
Great place for a beautiful hike! Go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. The new modern building has a nice restroom and information but you want to pull into the other lot.
Head past the information kiosk and go over the bridge near the restrooms and take the old growth trail Henry’s Woods along the creek. It’s amazing!
Restrooms near the trailhead there, by the bridge don’t have paper towels, but are also nice.
Free state park, free parking, free natural beauty. Escape the city and renew in Nature.
This is my go to place for birding. I've seen over 200 species of birds here to include over around 17 species of warblers. I recommend the homestead trail for spring and fall warblers. Just don't go on Thursday or Fridays between 10-2 as there's always bus loads of kids running around and screaming, scaring off all the wildlife. I'd rather them running around yelling there than at home playing video games though, at least they're out in nature. Hopefully there's a couple of their groups that will fall in love with the outdoors and will be good conservationists.
Also watch for dog poop on the Henry wood's trail as there are many inconsiderate people who don't clean up after their dogs, I mean a LOT of them. Also watch for horse poop all over the trails that allow them especially if you're riding a bike. Most of the trails are all use trails that allow biking, walking and horseback riding.
Try and avoid the areas around the parking lots as they're usually the busiest areas. The hummingbird gardens is an awesome area, there's lots of wildlife in and around the area if you can find a time when there aren't a lot of people. My best days for birding have been when it's cold or rainy and hardly anyone is there. On nice sunny days it can get very busy, especially on the weekends. The volunteers there have done a lot of good there, with clearing the trails, putting up nesting boxes, removing invasive species of plants and have really cleaned up all around the park. Your guys effort does not go unnoticed. From someone who is there easily 150 times per year I know it takes a lot of time and hard work to keep up with mother nature. Without everyone pitching in to keep this place nice it would be destroyed in no time.
There is easy and abundant access to nature and information about those who lived in this area. Trails are mostly easy and beautiful.
Nice peaceful place for a stroll or a hike or a dip in the creek on a hot day. Wanna feel tranquil? Spend a little time here. In the woods with Mother Nature.
Keep an eye out for people on the trails, always busy on the main tracks. Restrooms on the main entrance only
Took our first hike in the park today. Lots of interesting plants and insects to see. We’ll be back soon and definitely want to see it in the Fall.
Beautiful park with a great loop to walk or run it is about 1.5 miles. I love coming here with my pup! We feel so refreshed after a nice walk.
One of my favorite places to hike in the area. Well maintained trails, with bathrooms and pavillions
Jacobsburg is a beautiful place to visit and has a variety of trails of different difficulties. The environmental center is a beautiful building and fits in nicely, nestled into the park. There are historical buildings in parts of the park, places to wade, and restrooms to use. I’ve been coming here since I was little and it still amazes me to this day.
It was fun to see all the children exploring the wonders of Jacobsburg. The educators were well informed.
Arrived early enough to get a parking spot near Henry's Woods trail. Very nice trails to walk with maps available. Met some riders on horses as well as other people walking with dogs and children. Easy level trails for the most part and a few steeper trails.
