James Shuler Boxing Gym is an absolute gem! Their trainers are experienced and passionate. Shuler's actively engages in community work and are great with kids and anyone seeking a supportive and skillful boxing environment. Highly recommend.

I wanted to come here because when I caught wind of somebody leaving a bad review, I was caught off guard because this is not what I've experienced so I have to come leave my experience again. I debated on saying anything because what is understood, doesn't need to be explained.

My child has been coming to this gym for a while now and his coach is Muhammad. He has gone above and beyond coaching for him. He's become my son's mentor. As a mother of a biracial son who has a father who is not present 100% of the time, Muhammad has become the most positive Black representation my son has. This is important because my child is around all women at home. I first came because my child was experiencing some hardships and asked me to find a place to teach him how to box. We don't have biological family in Philly, so when I called this gym and purged all my emotions into a woman on the phone (ended up being Crystal lol), I came that very day and she along with every single brother in that gym welcomed us as family.

I also would like to address the "I don't like conflict" comment that the person left. Every person in the gym is very easy to talk to and especially Muhammad is not hard to approach, but I have to admit you as the client, child client, get out what you put in. If your child or nephew is not retaining the skill, then you can not blame that on the coach especially if you attend your sessions every other week. To remain focused is super important. No shortcuts! You can't attend twice a month and expect your kid to be at the same level as that of a child that has been there for months, or even years. Muhammad works very diligently with every single child and tailors his training to that child. If you feel as though training for your child can be turned up a notch with your child Muhammad is very reasonable and approachable. Talk to him instead of running to Google to leave a bad review. He will give his professional advice on wether or not it is a good idea to do so. You can not throw your child into the ring if he's struggling to run up and down the steps and struggling with the treadmill lol.

I'm not even going to touch on the money portion, because that part isn't my business and for all we know you could be lying. Or the account you are writing from is fraudulent and you are a jealous individual, jealous of kids that work their butts off sometimes 3-4 days a week then so may Allah Bless your soul because everyone in that gym has gone above and beyond for everyone who walks into that gym. Including my child. I thank you all the time but thank you Muhammad, Crystal, Bus and every fighter in that gym that has given my child the most priceless thing ever, his confidence and family.

Love,
Jessie

Paying for private boxing training for my nephew and Mahamad got like 3 or 4 other kids at a time. I'm bout to find another spot for my nephew because i dont like conflict. I can get past the group setting. But not when they just doing basic workouts. Hes here to learn to FIGHT.because I'm not paying for group lessons and all he do is have them hit THE pads for like 10 minutes then go right back to just talking. Sometimes hes not even paying attention to them he's talking to other people not paying real attention to his clients. The older fighters hog up the ring all the time and dont give these kids a chance. These kids barely get in the ring to even learn how to use they skills. Only one kid gets to use his skills all the time in there but what about the rest of us who are paying money just the same? Do we matter? I brought my nephew here because I heard its the best. I get they gotta condition they body but enough is enough. I can take my almost 500 a month elsewhere for one on one. Either that or can we have certain hours JUST for one one one training. Not open gym? Its not fair to other members that are there to learn to fight. What can we do to fix this?

By far the best boxing gym in Philadelphia. If you're looking to get in boxing shape and surround yourself with good people, this is the place to be. Make sure to ask for Coach "Bam Bam" Rob for training. He's the CHAMP
