I was a member of this house in 2020 and it helped build a foundation for my recovery that still exists today. The house owner and the members of the house held me to a level of accountability that I didn’t always like but needed. I came in living a life of despair and day by day was given hope through the structure that was provided along with the relationships I developed. I honestly can’t say enough about the house and the opportunities it has provided me. I’m forever grateful to Derek and Jonathan’s house for helping me become a better son, brother, father, and friend to many. I still visit often because one thing I know for certain is I can only keep what I have by giving it away.

Everything I know about this house is impressive. It is a wholly inclusive and supportive environment for men in recovery; moreover, the owner cares deeply about their success.
Men are welcomed with open arms by everyone in the community and are held accountable for their responsibilities while living at the house.

I've been at Johnathan's House since May 12th of this year. It's been very great, beneficial and much needed. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have a safe environment to better myself.

Despite the perceived cliché, the founder Derek and my subsequent residency at this house have undoubtedly saved my life. There are a plethora of reasons why this is an impeccable and quintessential embodiment of a recovery house/sober living.
I have observed firsthand, that each and every core population of this house since it’s inception have been consistent iterations and renditions of fundamental and thorough recovery. This is directly attributed to Derek’s compassion, empathy and the wisdom he imparts to all who have passed through these doors.
The house is structured to augment one’s ability to help themselves throughout their stay here and beyond, in order to thrive and flourish successfully for the rest of their lives.
I have made new healthy friendships whilst here, as well as reconciled with my family and in my other interpersonal relationships.
Furthermore, from the financial standpoint, there is an unfortunate scarcity of affordable recovery housing in Chester County. In spite of this, Derek has filled the void in this regard and established this milieu to meet that very need.
This house stands as a beacon of hope for all those in need of assistance with their substance abuse afflictions. If one is willing, dedicated and motivated to enlightening themselves, maturing and growing within and beyond their recovery, then this place is right for you!
My family and I are forever indebted and eternally grateful for all Derek has done for myself and innumerable others. This house has propelled a multitude of people on an effective trajectory that exponentially increases their chances of long-term recovery.
Ultimately, this house serves as a shining and demonstrable example exemplifying the precedents established in AA/NA of one addict/alcoholic helping another in perpetuity.

I came into the house pretty broken and lost. Being around others going through a similar situation and having the structure really helped me immensely. I was able to get my life back together, including my kids and a new career. I was able to become manager due to the trust I’ve been able to build due to the support of the owners and the other guys in the house.

I have so much gratitude for Derek and Jonathans house. Derek gave me an opportunity when I had nothing left. The house has given me an opportunity to grow in every area of my life. It definitely works if you work for it.

Came to Jonathan’s House in mid 2019 when it opened and to say it saved my life is a understatement. The structure and rules taught me how to live while giving me enough freedom to be a productive member of society. I’ve made countless relationships through this house some of which have become my closest friends today. It gave me the opportunity to root myself in the program within the community. The owners genuinely care about you and truly will do anything to help you start your journey. Perfectly placed within walking distance of everything and the most affordable in the area. I came in with nothing to my name but clothes in a trash bag and managed to build a beautiful life for myself. It all started with getting my first year clean in this house surrounded by incredible guys doing the same.

Jonathan's House is a staple in the West Chester community and helped me get sober, when I honestly didn't want to. Derek, as well as the house members, never gave up on me just like they will not give up on anyone who wants to be there. I owe my whole recovery to the start I received at Jonathan's House. The friendships I made will last a lifetime and I still go back to the house to talk to the new members both whom I lived with and ones that I haven't lived with.
Recovery houses are only as good as the people living in there and running the program. I am lucky to say I have been apart of a culture of Recovery and AA Unity. There are many paths to recovery and you need to find the right house for you, but if you want to be held accountable and finally achieve sobriety and recovery and are located in the West Chester greater area. This house is for you.

I was very disappointed in this place as a recovery center for my father. He was in compliance of his recovery and was so proud to finally do something different. Addiction is a family illness. He felt left out and judged while living here and there were many inappropriate remarks made to him. He died after having to leave and left a hole in our hearts forever. I wish this place would have worked with him more as AA/NA is a family. It is possible to recover, but you need you support from the people around you. Rip Dad.
