J's Steaks & Subs, Northampton PA

A great family run establishment. In reading some of the reviews here I can’t say I agree. I actually had a great experience here. The sandwiches we bought were very tasty and you get a lot for your money. Not bad at all. I do wish they could update the decor and remodel. But the service and food were great.

I don't often review unless really good or pretty bad. Cheese steak with onion and fries $15 - very dry. I actually brought it back because they had forgotten the cheese. No biggie. However, I was wrong.the manager dissected the sandwich and said look there's the cheese.smallest sliver at the bottom. I asked if he could add more but said couldn't with ruining sandwich. Did nothing to rectify situation just needed to prove he was right. Maybe he was technically correct but on that basis the worst cheesesteak I have had. Restaurant on main make a fresh tasty cheesesteak, unfortunately they were on vacation.cheaper too. Poor, dry cheesesteak, no customer service. By the time I got home and ate it even the fries were cold and soggy.won't be back.

J's Steaks & Subs is a hard place to find because we only have one in Northampton, Pa. Great food and the service is outstanding. Thanks for asking!

Great service. Good reliable tasty foods. Would be 5 stars if store was less retro. We travel just for the fries and cheesesteaks!

Got a cheesesteak and fries, you have to ask for cheese and if you do ask for more than one slice! Delicious food, soda from fountain was flat but the fries were the best I've had! Definitely gonna go back and try other things.

Food is great. Service was bad this time. I ordered by phone. When I went to pick it up I had to wait 10 minutes but my steak sandwiches were already wrapped and sitting there the whole time I was waiting. Then when I got home my order was wrong. Even though he said my order back to me on the phone correctly. Then I called and complained and they said to come back. They only had 2 people working.

Very sloppy got 2 large cheese steaks guy making them throws meat in put in wrap and rolls it up and smashes it it was size of a hot dog roll and then charged 28.00 for 2 steaks witch where so dry no tast at all worst place I ever got food from

Best Cheese steak in PA. Make sure you get them to make it fresh. They are so good they always have steak on the grill and you dont want that. You want one made after you order. You will not be disappointed if you get one fresh

Always good food! The cheesteaks are always packed full, hoagies have more meat than other places. Hot ham & chees was deliousos! Fast, friendly service. Very neat & clean.

Always on the look out for a great chessesteak, while this gets good marks for value, meat and cheese ratio, great bread, was seasoned well. I have one issue that prevented it from bring great.they pee cook their steak meat and keep in a warmer.when places do this meat isn't hot off the grill hot and there is very little grease.if these are not a big deal to you.then go for it.next time may ask for them to cook it up fresh, see if they can do that.staff was great btw

I've been eating Jay's food for years - especially the tuna subs. Food is always good; and take out orders are always ready on time.

I called to inquire about closing time, I was told 9: 00. Upon my arrival at 8: 47 I was turned away. Very disappointing.

Did not love it. What little meat was chopped so small if flew all over, if there was cheese I right see it. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Great sandwiches and fries, the owner Dan goes out of his way to make his customers feel welcome.

The food was mediocre at best, cheesesteak was pretty dry and flavorless. The staff was nice and the wait was not bad at all, but please bring back the quality of your steak.
