Karen A. Rizzo, MD reviews
5I went to Karen Rizzo a while back and all she would do is prescribe medicine and tell me to quit smoking. I still need surgery a year later and have suffered a lot in that time. She gave me every excuse why she wouldn't or couldn't do the procedure. I talked to other doctors since then and they don't think it's that tricky of a procedure and that it is and always was the best route. I get not wanting to immediately jump into surgery but when a patient has been suffering for 6 + months and been to 3 or 4 doctors already trying to get help.maybe just help?
Very unhappy with the 2 appointments that amounted to 4-5 minutes total with the doctor. She wanted to “rule” out the big stuff and ordered very evasive tests that cost out of pocket $1500. No other suggestions or effort to rule out minor issues first. At second appointment she just told me results came back normal and sent me to a physical therapist. Very cold and abrupt manner. Ask questions on other options.
I called the office when my elderly mother couldnt swollow and the receptionist said they were booked up for over a week. I asked to please ask dr Risso to squeeze mom in since she was unable to swollow and her neck felt tight. I got a call back in a few minutes with an appointment for 3pm. The same day! I found the receptionist was polite and nurse was understanding and compassionate and no one can tell me anything negative about Dr Risso because she added to a busy day and was happy to help us.
I'm a nurse and I know this is beyond her responsibility but she knew that due to covid mom wont go to the ER. Dr Risso is dedicated to her profession and that is most important!
Dr. Rizzo performed my sinus surgery about 8 years ago. My results have been absolutely horrible. After she messed up my turbinates, I now have a minor (thank god) case of ENS. Read up on this terrible condition if you are considering sinus surgery. My right side always swells shut at night, making it hard to sleep. Many times I have woken up in a sweat, as it feels like you are being suffocated when you mouth shuts. Rizzo was overly aggressive with my surgery.
Had it not been past the statute of limitations, I would be pursuing a lawyer to discuss malpractice options.
