Kelpius Cave reviews
16Cool little piece of history of John Kelpius who went here in 1694 while he awaited the end of the world. (haha) This was his meditation cave. They say someone improved it into a springhouse around 1850.
A small cave. But the statue in front of it is cool. It stated the history of the hermit and the cave.
The best! I should know as I lived and grew up in the little cottage house shown here from 1966 to 1983 when it had to be taken down but it's ruins are still there!
I went for a walk to that place and when I returned someone had broken a window of my car and they robbed me as well as 3 more vehicles.
It was a really cool places to see we went at night and it was pitch black I'm happy are lights didnt die. I've lived in the philly delco area my whole life and never once did I hear about this place I'm glad my wife found it, it's a good place to go for a scare or just to check out
Phenomenal cave. I walked two hours to get here and it was worth every minute. A kind man even granted my friends and I some alone time with the cave so we could truly savor the experience. Could not recommend enough.
Cool little spot that is very easy to get to. Very small compared to what I expected from pictures. Interesting history around it
Beautiful scenery but I got stuck in the snow! Beware going down the hill to the mansion. I was stuck for an hour and had to rely on the kindness of strangers for shovels and pushes.
Really cool little "cave" on the wissahickon trails. Sometimes you can see some ritual stuff inside. Pretty cool.
The cave is just ok. But the park is AWSOME! It is definitely worth the hike to see the cave. But it's just a small man made cave
An interesting place to stop along the trails. Don't even think of using it as a bathroom you will be caught.
In Wissahickon park, not far or hard to get to. But don’t expect much it’s a tiny single room. Story is interesting and worth a read though. Apparently it was apart of a cult in the 1600’s
Park at the Hermotage and it is an easy quarter Mile walk. It's not a cave, but a rock building in the hill.
I have lived in Philadelphia my whole life and always heard about the Hermits Cave. Shame on me for waiting until I was 41 to explore it!
Come here and read the Stone Monolith and you will then understand the story of Fraü Kelpius The Roscrucian Monk and The Legend of The Hermits Cave!
Mysterious place to visit, after this stop you can hike around the area, beautiful forest.
