Kettle Creek State Park reviews
15Great place to get out on the water and fish.or just relax. Lots of wildlife (elk, deer, eagles, Grey tail hawk, porcupine, bear.) to see in the area.
Very pretty area to visit, whether you're just driving through or this is your destination. We stopped here at the dam to check it out and found it to be interesting and pretty cool to check out. There were several benches and picnic tables around the area to use which was nice and cool historical information to read and learn about which we always enjoy.
We were out on the bikes
Decided to check the park out an the Bush dam.
The park was really nice.theres bathroom camping area's.picnic area's- there was a lot of people fishing.if in the area check it out
Kettle Creek lower campground was pretty nice. Loved the clean bathrooms and hot showers. I have to leave my dogs home since I wanted to camp right on the water and the lower campground doesn’t allow pets. So while I was there, I checked out the upper campground so that I could possibly come back and bring the dogs this time. The upper campground is horrible! You’re way up the hill, the view is nice but you’re not on the water. There are only vault toilets here and no showers. You would have to drive all the way over to the lower campground and PAY each day to use the shower. I don’t think I will come back
Beautiful park, well maintained. We stayed in the upper campground, due to having a dog. No showers at upper campground, just at lower one. No pets allowed there. The electric sites were small for our 35 ft camper, so we stayed rustic and brought our generator. We wouldn't run it all night, just long enough to charge batteries and heat water. Some campers complained. I wish electric sites were a bit longer
We stayed for a long weekend in our tent at the upper campgrounds, because we had a dog. Overall nice view, clean, easy access to bathrooms, water, etc. I guess the only thing we were surprised by was how close the campsites were to one another. The pictures we saw made it look more spacious/private. Personal preference maybe - we don't mind being around others from a distance, but this felt like we were all camping together. We could hear everyones conversations. Luckily, our neighbors had good taste in music.
I do not understand why in rattle snake country they would stop mowing the grass next to the camping area where kids are playing and also dogs are.
Also the play areas needs new sand and mulch. I understand it is primitive, but not putting any money or time into the camping area is so out of line. There is no upkeep of any type. We pay the same for this park as any other state camp site and yet there is no remote evidents that any care about the park or the people who stay there. They said staffing is the problem but it seams to me that management is it. They barely clean the bathrooms and when the host was not there to put the garbage out they did even empty the bends. It is a shame because the place was a great place to stay.
We camped at the lower loop and it was so nice. There was a park bench at our site that we could sit and fish. The sites are a little close together but we didn't mind. Our daughter loved the nature center and the presentation the ranger did about moon phases and constellation.
Great relaxing place with amazing views and scenery!
Another great trip. Love this area!
Nice state park.we were in the are checking out the overlooks and stopped here to eat lunch. There were plenty of picnic tables and parking spaces. There doesn't appear to be a lot to do around here except fish, kayak or hiking. Very clean and quiet area. Photo I attached is from the overlook above Kettle Creek
Clean area and facilities. Not over crowded with people. Very relaxing and beautiful scenery! I love this place to fish!
Since you can't swim in the reservoir, and there's no pool at this park, you might choose to stay at the lower campground. The lower camp has 41 sites, some right along the Kettle Creek just above the CCC dam which creates some good pooling for fishing right behind your campsite. It's also a good spot for relaxing (see picture). The above area has 27 campsites.
Boating up to electric motor boats are allowed on the reservoir. The upper area has a boat launch and boat mooring area. There are picnic tables near the water and a play area.
Further up SAR 4001 is a 22 mile equestrian trailhead with overnight camping with permit.
Winter activities include ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sledding and tobogganing.
Hunting is permitted in season.
Great state park with a beautiful reservoir. Beautiful, quite and remote. Only complaint is that there isn't much to do around here. Very few hiking trail but some great ATV trails.
We spent a week at Kettle Creek campground in August of 2021. It was a peaceful and beautiful place. The camp host was amazing.he recommended sights and restaurants and went out of his way to make our stay extra special.
