Chad was always accessible and had good advice. We ran into a number of maintenance and repair issues while getting the house sold, but Chad knew the right professionals to call and helped us save thousands in the process. He went above and beyond, going to the house on my behalf when we needed a person there while work was being done. I would use Chad again anytime.

Chad and the entire Koehler-Marvin team are AMAZING! We had some bumpy roadblocks in selling our home but Chad was patient and helpful throughout the entire process. From the start, Chad took time to listen to our needs and put together detailed reports to help us price point our home. He also spent lots of time taking professional photos for the listing which I certainly believe attracted a lot of viewings. When we ran into some issues that delayed our sale, Chad helped us throughout the entire process even though this was probably also his first time that he had to deal with something to complex. At Koehler-Marvin, you also have the benefit of having a transaction coordinator who answers all your questions once you are in the contract stages. I cant speak for all the Realtors at this brokerage but I would avoid working with Mark Shay if you’d like a smooth home buying experience.

I found Mark through zillow as a first time home buyer and he requested we sign a buyers agreement for him to be our agent. Boy was that a mistake.

The whole experience never seemed right, i never felt like Mark took the time to really understand what we were looking for and simply wanted to adjust the zillow algorithm with specific items and go from there. He did not like that we were not committed to living in a certain area and seemed frustrated we were so flexible with things we were willing to live without or have in our home search. I expressed multiple times that our budget was the budget and there were no other available funds and we were constantly asked and prodded to asking family members for gifts to help with purchase.

Mark was great at printing out a tax report for homes we were visiting, but thats really where me feeling he was doing a good job as a realtor stopped. I even had to send two emails and wait multiple days to get information on a home listed by his own agency. When requesting to look at foreclosure options he would simply shrug it off as not a place for us or just not respond.

Even through all our struggles we ended up getting under contract on a home. And thats where it fell apart. After under contract I was given no information about closing dates I was told to bring our deposit check to the wrong office written out to the wrong agency. Felt completely in the dark. I was being sent information regarding other peoples home purchases when I was requesting info from our “ closing agent” it all seemed very unprofessional.

The final straw was when our appraisal came in lower than our offer price and Mark without speaking to me, the person paying for the home. Took it upon himself to speak to the sellers agent on his own accord offering to “split the difference” of the appraisal after being told numerous times that we could not move off of our budget. Then has the audacity to leave me a voicemail telling me to find more money to make the deal work.

Then I contacted his broker Paula explain my frustration and how unprofessional this was and then it got even more confusing.

She told me DO NOT contact mark i will be handling this. She apologized countless times for marks actions how this isn’t how her business is ran and this never happens. But then I’m continued to be contacted by mark after her specifically telling me not to speak to him. Then when I try to contact her nothing. So I’m left having to deal with Mark, So after the closing on our home falls apart and we lose the house due to the seller not wanting to accept anything lower than our offer which is fair. Why would you accept a lower number after the buyers agent says we can find a way to meet in the middle. Everything goes radio silent. No contact from his broker Paula apologizing for our deal falling apart nothing. Mark did contact me to confirm I received my deposit money back which was appreciated.

I would highly suggest any other realtor in the area, this may be the realty office for you if you are a very experienced assertive buyer, at that point you may still be better of with someone with more experience. For anyone looking for a real estate agent to truly help and guide you through your process I would stay far from Koehler Marvin Realty.

All in all a terrible home buying experience and a waste of time and money on all ends.

Chad was prompt, responsive, professional, timely, and had an honest and accurate answer for every question I asked. It at times an intense transaction, but he navigated through all of it with ease, giving me immediate updates every time he had one. I never once had to go to Chad and ask what was going on, or where we were in the process.
