La Cannelle Cafe reviews
18The experience I had here was truly out of this World. We tried many of the small plates, and every single bite was delicious. The food here represents the finest quality of the Philadelphia area. The French inspiration, and flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine somehow marry each other in an unforgettably harmonious way. Everything was perfect.
Everything was wonderful! I had the breakfast sandwich, avocado was a little firmer than I’d like but still a delicious meal (comes with breakfast potatoes).
Hidden Gem Alert! We really enjoyed their New Year's Eve five course dinner with complimentary champagne! The service was great! The food was impeccable!
Charming little bistro in a very nondescript hole-in-the-wall location. But well worth finding it
Excellent food and service. I highly recommend the mushroom bisque will definitely be returning with friends and family.
Everything was, by far, some of the best food we have eaten. Service was 10/10. Food 11/10.
A hidden gem tucked away in Wallingford. A foodie's delight. Every plate we tried was art.
Delicious food that is like nothing I've had before. I would definitely recommend the beets gnocchi. It was soo good! The staff are delightful & kind.
Stopped for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, was greeted promptly, cozy little place with a simple but nice decor
(The wall art is up for sale)
The burger was great, I wasn’t asked how I would like it and it came out well done, I would have preferred medium, but it did have a very nice flavor, I wasn’t able to finish it,
the roasted potatoes were simply ok, not much seasoning or flavor
I chose a random dessert and it was simply delicious
Overall nice experience and would recommend
This is the fifth time we have dined at La Cannelle and it will be our last. I believe in supporting local businesses/restaurants and do so as often as I can. I should point out that I was a manager of a large restaurant in New York for over ten years. We arrived at 6: 00 for dinner. There was one waitress on duty attending to both indoor and outdoor customers. Our order was taken at 6: 25 and our first course was not served to us until 7: 25. Our second course came at 8: 00. My wife ordered the lobster/gnocchi, which was so over salted it was not edible. The other dishes, shrimp risotto and chicken aux champignons were, in the words of our two guests, tasty but nothing out of the ordinary and quite pricey. Added to all of this was the unbearable noise level of the restaurant. When the majority of tables are occupied it is almost impossible to have a conversation with your table partners. In short, a frustrating evening and given the check ($196.00 with tip) a rather pricey one.
It was 3 p.m. On a Saturday afternoon, and we needed lunch. We picked this place off the map, and we could not have done better. I would give it more stars if I could!
We started with an apricot and honey toast appetizer, which was nice; presentation was excellent. Then we tried the mushroom omelette and the corned beef Benedict. Wow! Everything was prepared to perfection.
Excellent food, great service! And BYOB! Very friendly staff helped us navigate a menu offering very diverse fare!
Loved it; I'm going back this Saturday!
What a pleasure to have such a nice place to eat just down the road from where I live. The food was delicious, th eservice attentive, price reasonable and overall it was a lovely experience.
Service was excellent, food was excellent. Sound was loud from 1 table of 4 ladies. Not the restaurants fault. People need to be considerate of others around them. I couldn't hear the server speaking they were so loud.
Don't know why this think has 4.8 stars. Me and my family came here in the morning with two other people in the room and just the DRINKS took like twenty minutes to get to our table. Service is terrible.
I'm originally from Bologna, Italy and we are very serious about food (Bologna is considered by many to be the food capital of the world)! We have eaten at La Cannelle several times and it never disappoints. Superior service with top notch dishes that satisfy every palate. Tonight we ordered the special appetizer, which was the shredded broccoli, and I never had broccoli that mouthwatering in my life! Then I had the beets gnocchi and they were amazing, while my husband ordered the short ribs that were "melt in your mouth" delicious. This is one of the few place in the area where I dare take my friends and relatives visiting from Italy. Prices are very reasonable and it's BYBO.
Most of the experience was great. Staff super. Small place. A bit loud mushroom bisque excellent. The restaurant needs to offer gluten free bread and buns though. More salad dressing options. Some have a tough time with vinegar. My husband's bacon was burnt to a crisp and potatoes diced on plate were too well done. Creme brulee was excellent.
We’ve done brunch many times and it’s reliably fantastic. Had the braised short ribs and shrimp orzo for dinner tonight and OMG…incredible!
