La Tonalteca - Scranton,PA reviews
28Came here on the 4th if July, excited to enjoy some good Mexican food on our way to to the finger lakes, and the service was the worst I think I have experienced the entire pandemic. Not only were we ignored by the staff for a full 10 minutes, when we finally got the attention of staff, it felt like we were disturbing and disrupting them when asking to order, for water, to get our check. The bar tenders served others before us. The food was average at best, but I wasn’t expecting amazing cuisine, I really just wanted a good experience. We never give 10% tip, we are 20% to 25% tippers, and always tip using Cash. I will not return to this place ever again. Get your service together. Full stop. Do better, and treat all patrons fairly.
Really great food, but every time we go the service is beyond awful. Generally wait over an hour and a half for food, no drink refills and another half hour for the bill. Always seems to be a 3 hour visit. We keep hoping they will get it together, but several visits later it is the same every time. Definitely will try somewhere else next time, we give up.
Great food, great time.cant go wrong. Even though a lot of these types of places seem the same, you just can't go wrong. Always get your monies worth.
Awful. After waiting 35 minutes for a table we walked out after 90 minutes (after ordering) when our meal never materialized.
Today was the 5th time I’m here for pick up and I got to know that they are short staffed and even though I ordered it and the food was so good and I feel like same as every time I just can say worth it
The exact degree of authenticity depends on what you order - there are some dishes that are Mexican-inspired but not really Mexican, and others that are attempts at actual Mexican dishes. Regardless of how "authentic" it really is, the food is straightforward and tasty. They have a varied but not overwhelming menu which includes lots of interesting vegetarian options. Free chips and salsa also! The wait staff was kind of awkward but not terrible.
Twas the night before shutdown with Grinch Wolf's passion for destroying holidays obvious even for some democrats. _The wait was a little longer due to the impending closure but not excessive. The food was very good, the service was also very good and the bill was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Portions are great. Very friendly and attentive staff. Good lunch specials.
Delicious. The rice and beans and the chicken avocado salad in the taco shell was so good. Can't wait to go back.
This is BY FAR.one of my most favorite places to eat. If I cant dine in. I carry out all the time. NEVER missed up my order once.food always as good as when I order dine in.my spouse took me here for my birthday last year in October. In just about a year I order at less 3 to 4 times a month. 10 star if I could.
Found this restaurant after hiking at Salt Springs State Park. The atmosphere and decor is amazing. One feels like you are in a festival. Our dinner came out fast and everything was fresh and hot. Our server, Fernando, was attentive and friendly. We definitely will be back when we are up that way again. A hidden gem.
Good time. Super busy and took a while for seating and for our food. Food was good service was great.
Great place. Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices with a lot of variety to include vegan choices.
Great Mexican restaurant to enjoy a well made plate of tacos, a good meal and great magaritas seafood dishes.
Good, fast service. Food was terrible. Little flavor and covered in sauce which made everything mushy. In every Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, you get rice and beans with all entrees. Not here. Most meals come with rice but no beans. You have to pay an extra $2.50 for beans. Also, if you want extra tortilla chips with your salsa you have to pay extra for that too. Will not go back to this establishment and do not recommend.
The food tasted wonderful. The service was good. It took a while for your meal to arrive but it was very hot temperature wise.
We have never, ever had a bad meal there.
The service is always spot on.
Location is perfect, to get to rt. 81
Really enjoyed our appetizer which was the chori-fries. But my chimichangas was very sub par. I've had much better elsewhere. Our server was nice but was very infrequent with her stops. My girlfriend waited a while before she was given a refill on her water. All in all, left full and pretty satisfied but would choose a different entree in the future.
The food is good, the margaritas are incredible. Only a bit overpriced, especially those margaritas! Be careful when ordering or you may want to cry when you get the check. Otherwise good service, friendly staff.
The servers here are always so wonderful! The menu has a ton to choose from and the food is great! It’s well priced here too!
