Been waiting for call back and never heard from them. Not sure they have enough people to help.

In June of 2015 I had these thieves evaluate my mother as she needed a direct care worker badly. My mother wanted me to do it and I said okay, I would love too. Then the Area for Aging said a relative can't take care of a relative in Pennsylvania, which I knew was a lie because I had worked for Caregivers of America where some co-workers took care of their relatives. So that was the reason they refused to fund her for the care she needed. My mom was blind with heart and lung disease, but the area of aging was unable to manipulate me. In December of 2015 they came back to do a second evaluation at the request of my mom's Dr. This time they said she did not belong in a nursing home, and she has to be nursing home eligible to get funded for a caregiver. So again, they refused to fund a blind woman who had heart and lung disease. I was now into my first seven months of taking care of her without a nickel to show for it. In March of 2016 I was admitted to the ICU of Moses Taylor Hospital as I went into respiratory failure. Now my mother was the responsibility of the Lackawanna County Area of Aging. Well, you guessed it, they put her in a nursing home now that I was gone. In May of 2016 through a state audit, the Area of Aging were found to be discriminating against some people while giving extra hours to others for caregiving duties. Therefore, the state removed them from determining if a person needed a caregiver, but they can continue to evaluate on a yearly basis and give their evaluation to the state for review. I was now a caregiver that was being paid to care for my beloved parent and I thought those crooks were done. In 2019 the Area for Aging sent a copy of their evaluation to the state claiming my blind mother with heart and lung disease can now take care of herself. We had a hearing in 2020 fighting to get her funding back. Ameritrade, which was her state insurance stepped in and continued her funding and made sure the Area for Aging did not ever come back to the house for anything. Yes, the Lackawanna County Area for Aging are out for themselves and not the elderly. Stay away from these shysters at all means if possible.

I didn't notice the container in the lobby so I took my form right upstairs and dropped it off. It wasn't a problem.

A Paula Yale from that agency took my wife of 29 years away from me on the lying word of a druggie next door neighbor, & I lost her companionship for 9 weeks, at what point Ms Yale said they dropped the investigation, but NEVER apologized. My wife died about a week later. Would NOT trust that agency with my worst enemy, & would definitely advise anyone contemplating dealing with Area AgIng Agency to think twice.

The staff of the Area Agency on Aging went out of their way to help me in a time of real need. Everyone was prompt in their response to my need and followed through with me until there was an amazing resolution of my issue. I am truly grateful for all the help that was provided to me.
