Had 8: 15 reservations last nite. Got there on time and was told they were cleaning the table. 10 mins later was then told they were paying the check. (mean time no where to seat and wait since all the front area was filled with take out orders). I asked again and this time told I might Still be 10 mins meaning we would have to wait til 8: 45 (maybe) for our table. Have eaten here in the past and always good. We finally left with out getting our table. Not once did anyone at least say we are sorry about the way we were treated. You never will see us again.

This is a little gem in South Philadelphia. We went there on a Monday night not expecting much since our favorite South Philly Italian restaurant was closed. We were blown away. Excellent food, great service, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend and will return

The food was a five stars. We ordered the mixed seafood and octopus appetitizer and they took zero shortcuts with their cooking technique or ingredients.

The service was atrocious and I am never returning again. We had a reservation at 9: 15 pm and were 15 minutes late. I fully understand the staff wanted to go home but they should have turned us away instead of making me and my date feel awkward.

The server (dark hair guy with a paunch) made my girl uncomfortable by staring at her cleavage and I felt like an unwanted guest at someone's house. Never returning again based on the service.

We had the best time celebrating two birthdays here over this weekend. The service was amazing, shout out to John! The whole team perfectly timed the menu and our courses out to have a lovely, leisurely, and extremely enjoyable dinner. Highly recommend the octopus, the Caesar salad, definitely take advantage of any of the specials they have going on, and absolutely adore that this was a BYOB. If you're in South Philly definitely check this out, it is the perfect Sunday night dinner or easy weekday spot. No need to dress up, come as you are, and just remember to bring a good bottle of wine.

This place is a gem of the local restaurant! Great food and great service. We made last minute reservation, so we were sitting at a high top (the restaurant is small and it was a busy day) near the enterance&kitchen. But the heating system here was really good and the seats were comfortable. Also, it was cool to see the kitchen.
About the food: one of the best grilled octopuses out there. Italian style potato salad with is was incredible too. Other dishes were great with generous portion, as you can see from the photos.
We will definitely go back and try other dishes they have.

Fantastic little spot to go to for a dinner date for 2. Make a reservation in advance as they have limited seating. The space is very small and slightly cramped. It is byob for wine, so make sure to bring one. Out of 10, this place is a solid 8.5 and only loses points for the spacing. The menu is limited but comes with Fantastic specials

Food is excellent! The atmosphere made me feel like I haven't as in a little Italian restaurant! Service was very good! I have been back several times!

Food is always phenomenal - we usually always start with the grilled calamari (so tender and flavorful!) All of the pasta I've tried there has been delicious. Eggplant parm needs some TLC but I'd recommend everything else on the menu.

Normal server is a bit rude but the food runners/bussers are always so sweet and helpful. Had a different server for the first time the other night and he was great!

Absolutely adore L’Angolo and have been eating here for somewhere around 20 years. It’s great to always see familiar faces when I go in to eat after all these years. I do miss Nino who ran the restaurant for the longest time. There food is consistent and not overpriced, the service is great and I love the atmosphere…and did I mention they are BYOB? ! Don’t think about going here, just book it and go, you’ll love this gem of a south Philly restaurant.

Food was great. Servers very pleasant and accommodating. Sat outside. Only downside, people waiting for take out, left headlights on which faced 2 folks in our party.

It's really difficult to find a place like this outside of Philly area - a neighborhood Italian restaurant off of your usual touristy spots, with excellent food and service.

I honestly love this place. Me and my family would come and it would be different every time. Love that the menu changes with what’s in season and how much they have. Food is gorgeous. It’s bring your own wine so you can pair it with whatever your feeling your table
Will eat. Fantastic little Italian dinner and dessert.

Amazing food! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed it. However, the service wasn’t that great. It took 30 minutes for our waitress to take our order and give us bread… and that’s only because I flagged down another waitress to see if she could help find her. Our waitress definitely forgot about us because we saw her take orders for other tables and fill up everyone else’s water around us, but never approached us besides the time she greeted us when we first got there. And she wasn’t very friendly afterwards. Was really hoping to like it here: (

Great Italian food! Party of four - everyone ordered different dishes - all were outstanding. The gnocci was exceptional - the lightest and tastiest I've ever had. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Be sure to make a reservation as the restaurant is cozy with fairly limited number of tables.

Anyone giving this South Philly Gem less than 5 stars does not know what they are talking about. To truly understand this dining experience, one must enjoy the meal and service at the venue. Yes, it is an intimate setting. Yes, you must walk through the kitchen to get to the dining area. But the food and the service is absolutely outstanding. The portions are generous. The meals are authentic. Management and servers are knowledgeable. The cuisine is spectacular. If you want a hearty, satisfying meal, I suggest the beef braciola with the handmade gnocchi. They do it right. This place is one of the best places to eat in ALL of Philly. It's worth finding a parking spot. It's worth walking a few blocks. It's worth a lot more than what you pay. I've had meals off of Passyunk that cost me way more and weren't as good. This is a South Philly Gem. I go here before Phillies games with friends. Italian or not, you need to go here and eat.

Small neighborhood Italian restaurant. Just fantastic. Food was awesome and portions are huge. Just remember that it is BYOB. So grab your favorite bottle of wine before you get there.
