+good environment.friendly staff.

-The chef lacks fundamental understanding of Shanghai cuisine. The dishes bearing Shanghai cuisine names feels very Cantonese in taste. Imagine going to an authentic Italian restaurant and getting a pineapple pizza. That's how I felt during my visits to Margaret Kuo's.

腌笃鲜里放香油和香菇简直犯罪,咦……

Do not get delivery. I was cautioned about this, but gave it a chance only to have our $138 order arrive minus an entire entree. Called and was told they couldn't deliver it OR refund me (ordered thru GrubHub), but I could come pick it up. If I could pick up, I wouldn't have ordered delivery, and I gave the driver a 20% tip (had to do ahead of time). So they wrote down my name and number saying they'd give me that entree for free next time, but there was not a way to keep a record of that. They would just write it down. Ridiculous!

This will be our last order from Kuo's.

Tonight's Kung Pao Chicken was a pale imitation of the normal dish. The rest of the food was meh.

Don't special order! I like my Shrimp with Honey Walnuts sweet and spicy, with brown sauce instead of mayonaise. So I asked for a substitution with General Tso's sauce, spicy. The chef certainly showed me. The dish came with so much red pepper flakes, it is almost inedible.

Margaret Kuo's as gone from a family favorite for special occasions, including Christmas Eve and birthdays, to a hard pass.

I have eaten here three times and each time have been completely satisfied, in every respect.

As a thirty-year resident of Asia, (recently returned to the Philadelphia suburbs), I know something about Chinese food. The food at Margaret Cho's is excellent. It is full of intense flavor. For example, today I had the General Tso chicken. It was perfect - sweet but sour and spicy without being overpowering. Furthermore, as s person who knows the various kinds of Asian rice well, and who is very fond of them all, I was impressed by the rice at this restaurant. It was delicious.

The restaurant is nicely decorated in a slightly sumptuous Chinese way. Most importantly, it is quiet. So many restaurants here in the suburbs are packed with loud customers and the tables are so close together that I have to shout at my companion to be heard over the din. By contrast, this restaurant is wonderfully quiet. I was able to converse in a low voice and therefore, I could relax.

The service was excellent and very quick. The waiter was quite attentive, without being annoying or ingratiating.

Finally, the prices were very reasonable.

I strongly recommend this restaurant.

THE Place for A Rakugo Wrap Party!

Margaret is the consummate restaurateur and hostess! Her restaurant in Wayne, PA was the perfect place for a post performance dinner & show featuring Katsura Sunshine, practitioner of the ancient art of Japanese standup comedy! Phenomenal food and Martinis! Can't wait for the next show!

Very well kept and welcoming restaurant. They serve generous meals and for inexpensive prices. I loved the menu a lot and the staff members were very friendly and chatty. Recommended.

Disappointing.been going for years.they lost our reservation.we waited 20 minutes to place our order
(she never asked if we wanted drinks). Then another 40 for actual food. The menu was Very different.some of our favorites were gone.menu itself was falling apart.will probably not go back.very unhappy but simple not worth it.

Terrible experience on Christmas. Basically left many reservation holders standing in line with no effort even to check them in no explanation for delay no attempt to mitigate situation. Just walked away from check in podium and left every one in the lurch.

Nope, never again. Placed a large take out order for my parents anniversary, as Margaret Kuo’s was recommended by friends. Despite calling 4 hours ahead of pickup, I waited 50 mins for the food to be ready. When we arrived home a portion of the order was absent, AND the quality was HORRIFIC. I will eat practically anything, but sadly had to discard two of the chicken dishes as they’re really smothered in sickeningly sweet sauce & seem to have been so deep fried the chicken was burnt dust. Don’t know what went wrong here, but shockingly unacceptable.

So disappointed. Though we have had marvelous meals here in the past, last night was the worst. Reservations meant nothing, and they were not busy at 4: 30, but we were recommended to go upstairs where we could order Chinese and Japanese. Room temperature was freezing, food was very slow coming to the table and not good; Grilled Chilean sea bass with orange miso sauce was beyond ridiculous in its paltry portion, 2 very thin (1/4 ") slices smaller than a small fried egg with an orange "sour" sauce lightly drizzled on top, 4 small cold broccoli florets, and 3 - 1/2 slices of orange on a large dinner plate. For dessert we had an ancient dried out piece of Lychee pie with mold on the bottom (at which time we stopped eating it). During the movie afterwards I had serious gastric distress and had to use Pepto tablets to make it through. During our whole time at the table fat, fruit flies were tormenting us, flying into our faces, after the beer and the food! What the heck.

All the food we got was really good. The potstickers, chicken teriyaki, moo shu pork, and beef with noodles was all tasty and didn’t feel heavy going down. The atmosphere is a little lacking though. We were seated on the second floor and were the only people there. The servers kept pushing us to order the sushi special but we declined every time.

Food was mediocre. Wait staff was indifferent and at times almost hostile and argumentative. Lunch prices are reasonable. Honestly I was expecting more from this place but I have been to dumpy looking Chinese restaurants with better servers and food. I would recommend looking elsewhere especially if you are in the mood for good Chinese food.
