Marion Hose Bar reviews
20Very good service. 2 of us ordered the roast beef dip. Very disappointed as there was so little beef. Was the equivalent of maybe 3 slices of beef which is really sad as the little that we had was very tasty. Bartender was our service as at a hightop table and he did a great job balancing the bar and several tables.
Gorgeous evening. Asked to be seated outside when there was a table with 3 chairs open. Was told since there were only 2 of us we could not be seated there. Opted to eat in. Inside area is cramped, dark, and dreary - and pretty empty. Seated right next to where food is sent out and didn't appreciate the bustle. Wait staff was friendly but not the experience I expected or hoped for.
Came here for dinner before a show. Cocktails were delicious and refreshing, the veggie burger hit the spot and the outdoor seating is so cute! The staff were so friendly, too. Pretty sure there were only three FOH employees and they were HUSTLING! Hope everyone who works here gets a raise for their service and attitudes. Almost came back for lunch the next day!
Great food, friendly staff. Awesome atmosphere with inside and outside seating. Will definitely be coming back when back in this area. Something for everyone on the menu.
I love eating here whenever I come to Jim thorpe! Service is quick and friendly. Food is phenomenal. They are very accommodating to my dog, including making him a yummy hot dog for dinner! The French onion dumplings AND soup are both phenomenal. Love the local brews too!
Zac the guy who served us was great. We have been here a few times he was our serve twice and well was great! I would recomend the food and the wait staff was great!
Such a lovely spot! The chili was great, as was the Pig Lebowski sandwich. The fries unfortunately were not great, and were cold. Their homemade ketchup helped make up for that though, as it was delicious.
The host was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was just what I looking for for my mother's 80th birthday lunch. The food was pretty good, my medium rare burger was closer to medium, but it was ok. The bacon jam was amazing, but it was only on a quarter of the burger. The waitress was terrible! We had to ask for everything. Mothers soup was served by a runner, but we had no utensils, napkins, salt, nothing. Had to ask and then it took 10 minutes to get. I made it clear that I wanted a full glass of water and was very thirsty. The waitress said she'd keep it filled and never once filled it without my asking.if she actually walked by the table. It was a mixed experience as the atmosphere was great, the food good, but the service was terrible. Mom never wanted to go back.
It started out a little rough, the hostess was rude, telling us to get behind the gate. But after we got a seat at the bar we had a great time with Alicia the bartender. The drinks were delicious and my husband enjoyed the bourbon flight!
I couldn't rate the food because we walked in and we were dumped at a table with menus. Ten minutes later no one came back to ask about drinks, so we decided to leave. I could see it were really busy or short staffed but it obviously was not.
We sat at the bar to get dinner quicker. Sandwiches took over an hour to arrive. Food was mediocre. French fries were cold.
Got in line 15 minutes before they opened with 5 adults and 2 kids. We were the first group and were told to wait a few minutes as there is no room for us inside. Not sure how they aren’t ready to have people inside at the very beginning of the day. Several groups were seated before us so we left. Overall attitude was unpleasant and figured we would have a better time elsewhere.
I have been here quite often and always find it pleasant. I have family who are firefighters and e m t and cannot wait to bring them. If you are in the civil service, bring one of your patches, and you can put it on their wall of honor. My favorite thing there is the french onion dumplings. They have a great selection of beer to keep my guests happy. If you want to enjoy old world ambiance dine inside. If you want to enjoy a nice autumn afternoon, experiencing the streets of Jim Thorpe sit around one of their fireplace tables.
It was pretty good! I got pulled pork. It definitely had that smokey taste. The french fries were similar to boardwalk fries and had a smokey ketchup. The nachos were excellent too.
Most excellent place!
The food is top flight; my fiancé had a chicken salad sandwich that she said was the best she ever had, i had a "chunker", which was one of the best cheeseburgers i have ever eaten, perfectly prepared and delicious! And do not skip the dumpling appetizer.amazing
!
We sat at the bar, and our server Alicia was fantastic (and hilarious!).
If you find yourself in Jim Thorpe, this place is a must-do!
You will be happy you did!
Fantastic food and drinks.loved the atmosphere! We were in Jim Thorpe biking and stopped for some lunch.we will definitely be back. The chicken salad sandwich and Berry Mule I had were delicious! Staff was very friendly and it's Dog friendly too!
In a gorgeous location and outside seating is nice, food is pretty ok too, but we waited around 2 hours for 5 plates of food (one of which was completely forgotten). We were given food before utensils, and didn’t get the check until almost an hour after we had all finished. Busy, yes, that would be under stable as to why it took long but almost 2 and a half hours is overkill.
Cool nostalgic place right next to Mauch Chunk opera house! Great drinks and Chicken Marsala sandwich! Omg.get here!
We asked the locals and many recommended Marion Hose Bar. Surprisingly unique. Everything we ate was just fabulous. Highly recommended if in Jim Thorpe
Amazing food, even better service. First time in Jim Thorpe and I was looking for a nice bar/restaurant to eat in. It was packed when we came in, but the guy in the mustache (our server) made sure we were taken care of from the beginning.
Food was amazing, definitely recommend the steak salad! And the Lime Prosecco cocktail, AMAZING!
I can assure this place feels like a family owned business. Everyone is so nice and friendly to each other and the customers.
We asked to be seated at the bar after having our food and they were really accommodating.
This is a MUST, when you come here.
