Mario's Restaurant & Bar reviews
15Terrible experience. Was there 2 weeks ago and will NEVER go back. Was told twenty minute wait, fine. 45 minutes later I asked why people who came later where being seated and we were still waiting? Girl didn’t seem concerned and offered to put us back on the list, again. We’ll never go back
Amazing food and service! Even short staffed, the crew that showed up tonight was fantastic!
Food was really, really not good. The Carbonara was not Carbonara, the stuffed banana peppers were soggy and flavorless, the bread was rolls slathered in oil with bits of garlic sprinkled on it.what a mess. Whose idea was that? Not worth it at all. I wouldn't have enjoyed it if it was free.
My husband and I came down to Moon to eat at Armstrong's but sadly they were only doing take out. Anyway, we decided to try Mario's. We wait 15 minutes which for a Saturday night at 7pm was not bad. There was 1 waitress who was visibly frustrated with the patrons and lack if help. The food was flavorless and cold. I had the Chicken Marsala it was far from Marsala. It was separated brown gravy on cold rubbery chicken. My husband had the Chicken Romano and he said it tasted like chicken with Chik fil a frozen lemonade on it. The rolls were basic yeast based dinner rolls with huge pieces of garlic thrown on top. The stuffed banana peppers were watery and flavorless. Bottom line go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
I'm in town overnight for a party and I wanted something close to my hotel.this place is amazing! Small intimate space, family oriented, great Italian food, amazing service.the chicken piccata is very good and the huge garlic rolls, slathered in butter with garlic cloves on top.diet be damned! Very nice experience; will definitely come here again when I'm back in town
Warm, friendly atmosphere and wait staff. We had excellent fried zucchini and perfectly seasoned lump crab cake appetizers. The tender lemony veal piccata was absolutely delicious!
The food was not expected. The chicken was chewy and the dishes and glasses didn’t look cleaned very well. The waitress was nice but seemed maybe too busy. Most likely won’t be back.
We were on a tight schedule to have dinner before a show downtown, they were able and ready to accommodate us at short notice there was 6 in our party. I will say however the food was unacceptable to everyone at the table. Besides taking a long time to get any appetizers to the table they were cold and seemed to have been sitting waiting to be brought to our table. I not being a pasta girl ordered a filet. It came out over done (I asked for mr or on the rarer side) it was mw when it came out I had them re cook one for me and that came out tasting like it was microwaved thus I didn’t eat it. We all know what microwaved meet tastes like. The rest of the food was eye appealing but not very tasty, the shrimp was over done on one dish and several others stated their food was basically tasteless. The portions were bigger than they needed to be, we would have rather had smaller portions and flavorful meals. We left most food behind. I gave them 3 stars for their accommodating us as well as how the food looked, the service was good but not grate. We would choose another place or a late meal instead of returning and basically wasting our money.
Place was about 60% full. 35 minutes to get our appetizer. 30 minutes after I finish my first beer I finally seen our waitress to ask here for another one. Was there for 2 hours total. Service and food was terrible. I ate half my dinner and left the rest on the table. Let’s get one thing straight I’m not a picky eater. That wasn’t even so so. First and last time I have dinner there
Great place to eat Italian food, would have been a 5 star however my meatballs were hard and chewy. Service was outstanding, friendly server. The tiramisu was out of this world! Best I have had in years!
Was there last weekend huge cockroach below my feet at the bar. Where ther's one there's a million! Didnt say anything just walked out. Never again.
Where to start.we loved feeling like family when we were greeted at the door. Not this time. What happened to the sweet lady? Was served soup spoons to twirl our pasta dish with? My carbonara dish was missing ingredients, although the peas in the dish were overwhelming. Noticed dishwasher ever so close to our table carrying racks of dishes to the wait stand. Server redoing her ponytail in the dining room beside us. Smh
Great Italian Food - but beware of upcharges!
My wife and I enjoyed the daily special, which was a penne Bolognese. Nice flavors, plenty of meat in the sauce, and tender pasta. There was an extra plate charge of $3 to split the order. The pasta was $18 plus the extra $3.
The special had one free side, so I ordered a side Caesar salad and was charged an extra $2.50. Apparently on the menu is says only the house side salad is free. The extra cost of the Caesar side wasn't a good value at all.
My wife had a Mario's special salad, which she enjoyed. We had to remind the server to bring the salad dressing.
We began the meal with a stuffed banana peppers appetizer. The menu said they were spicy banana peppers and they were too spicy for my wife. I'd never had this dish before, so I was glad to order it and try it - but just once.
Overall - we enjoyed the food. The service was friendly but just average. And the prices were higher than they should have been after the upcharges. After splitting an entrée, taxes, and tip - and drinking just tap water - the total bill was $44.00. That's pretty high for what we received, and we probably won't go back.
Recently remolded and under new ownership, I was hoping for some changes and tweaks in the menu.
They removed the wall from bar area and this gives it an open concept with a little more breathing room. A fresh coat of paint, new tablecloths and new dinnerware has given the place a fresh look.
I only go here with friends that absolutely love the place and the food. Personally I think there is other choices for Italian. I love garlic but it should never be the main ingredient.
Food is always good. BUT what they did to the bar is a shame, not cozy anymore, looks terrible like sitting in a cafeteria.
