McGillin's Olde Ale House reviews
17Mythical place, crazy atmosphere on the day of an American football match, this place impressed us a lot. We ate there, very well! Don't miss it!
The music was too loud which didn't make for having good conversation. Chicken sandwich was awesome
We came with a group of tourists. The meal wasn't bad but nothing more. Lots of noise and it quickly becomes deafening.
Drink: The beer menu is vast. The liquor short pours seem to be a regional thing around here.
Food: The salmon special was $13 and perfectly cooked, excellent.
Oldest pub in the USA hidden in the back alleys of Philly. Nice service…. Very friendly…. Good food…. Drinks ….
They sold to us drinks 5-10 min aprox before closing, (a whole beer pitcher and cocktails) then at 2 am the security expected us to finish the drink and leave, why if u know you are closing at 2 you sell us that? We cant drink that fast, I understand he wants to go to sleep but we are paying for this drinks.he couldn’t wait 5 minutes for us to drink.and he treated my husband like he is committing a crime and he is only trying to consume for what he paid for.also gave so much money to the music box and never played a song, girl in the bar told us it was not her problem.just dont waste your time and go somewhere else
Great vibe bar with daily specials and fantastic bar food. Great and friendly staff and good assortment of beer and drinks.
Everyone is hostile. I don’t recommend this place. They truly don’t care about the client.
They don’t close at 2pm. They will drag you out at 1: 30pm and won’t let you finish your drink.
Safe your time and go to another place.
Bartender, Jeremy…listen to the people. Stop kicking people out. If you don’t want people to drink late…then don’t sell any alcohol. You ass
Cool place that rocks when Philly sports are on live. Decent beer and whiskey list with traditional pub fare. Food was good and moderate to high in cost. The upstairs bar is a nice place for a more cozy feel. Just what you would expect and hope for from one of the 10 oldest pubs in the US.
One of the best places to hang out in Philly and drink. Super awesome atmosphere & really cool staff, Will & Tony make the best experience possible!
The bartender, Jeremy, is the absolute best in the world! If you’re in Philly, please stop by here!
Best drink, best rates & best people, hands down.
Worst salad of my life. And even after complaining, still charged us $11.99. Lettuce was mostly rotten, tough chicken, tasteless dressing and old strawberries and blueberries. Waitress never offered water or offered to refill our drinks. Won't go back here. Lots of better choices.
Update: A second waitress removed charge.
My friend and I dined her. While we waited for our show to start at The Kimmel Center. Our server and the staff here were all phenomenal. Very nice and attentive. As for the food. I got the Shintzel, which came with cabbage and German potato salad. It wasn't a bad dish. Just some food items was hot and some were cold. My friend got the meatloaf and she said she enjoyed her food. I had a couple of mixed drinks that I really didn't care for. My friend got mostly beer. She said her beer was fine. With all that said. I would definitely go here again. Cause they were reasonable priced its's not like the food or drinks were completely horrible.
My husband and I stopped in here while we were in Philly! Awesome experience. Great history. We ended up buying t-shirts!
Had a great time but was denied an offer of paying $100 to sign Rockstar by Nickleback for Karaoke on a Wednesday night after also buying a shirt and hat from Mike (cool bartender)
Great Irish bar with plenty of beers to choose from and stacks of history (it’s the oldest pub in the city and state still open!). The staff are super friendly and helpful and also know their beers!
Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an authentic feel of that part of the city heritage.
Group travel.
Great Iconic Philadelphia meal.
Very good service.friendly.awesome t-shirt
Very good memory
Coming from a New Yorker, this place was honestly outstanding. Drink prices were so reasonable (and they poured VERY generously!)
The bottom floor was a little more chill (country/mediocre white people music) but the top floor was SO much fun. Perfect balance between fun & dancy while having some room to sit down. I didn't get any food, but a table nearby got french fries that smelled so good my mouth was watering!
I will DEFINITELY be back.:)
