Italian Restaurant Mercurio's reviews
37 Very unique pizza. Super thin crust and the base almost feels like a chapati. Points for the novelty of the experience. However taste wise Contadina was nice but one side of the base was sort of burned. Flavour and topping could have been more. The price is also high considering the quantity and fillingness of the pizza.
Death by chocolate Gelato had very rich brownie and chocolate chip pieces, however the base ice cream was very airy and not thick and creamy as one would expect.
Avoid the seating outside with the exhaust overhead. Service was prompt and attentive.
Overall decent experience.
A must visit. I came back to Pittsburgh 6 years after graduating and wondered if it was as good as I remembered. I’d also live in NYC so I knew I might be harsh with my pizza feedback however no feedback needed here! This place is still awesome. We didn’t try the gelato but the pizzas were great. I’d probably skip the panzanella salad when I go the next time, but I love how thin their pizza dough is. Yes this is not an NYC slice but is equally delicious. Some of the staff was also interacting in Italian which made the experience even more authentic and homey.
Great place for Italian food in Shadyside. Their pizza is a real Italian pizza, homemade crust and simple ingredients. Fresh tomato and basil.
Not bad pizza for the price. Being a NYC local this is definitely nothing like NYC pizza, but definitely one of the better spots for pizza in PGH. Worth a trip or two!
I've been in Pittsburgh for years and have heard great things about this Pizza. I must say it was a true taste of Napoli. Light and delicious.
Highly highly highly recommended, best pizza I've ever had, wish there were more of these around
Absolutely amazing! Authentic pizza. The caprese salad was awesome as well! Highly recommend and will be going back!
Went for the gelato and the quality was delicious. Didn't have a lot of fruity flavors like I wanted but I also went in the fall time - so most likely seasonal timing. But their variety of flavors is unmatched! There were a lot of flavors I never even thought of for gelato. Recommend the pistachio and coconut stracciatella. Four stars just because of price (student perspective) but fair for cost and quality of gelato. Definitely will go back in the warmer months!
For the gelato alone, I think Mercurios is my go to to satisfy my sweet tooth. I think it's better than some of the other Shadyside favorites and their pizza looks amazing. We visit probably once every two weeks.
We ordered three pizzas, a calzone and two pints of gelato. Everything was delicious. The ingredients were very fresh and all had a great taste. The pizza was great, but the gelato was fantastic! We ordered peanut butter oreo and death by chocolate. I would order both again, but I am still dreaming about the peanut butter oreo! Great experience would definitely return!
Insanely rude. Waited over an hour to be seated and then told they were closing without any availability.
Best neopolitan pizza I've ever had, and their gelato is amazing. This is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh.
Delicious flavors, kind staff, a small cup is definitely plenty as this gelato is so rich and wonderful
Excellent old style pizza. Don't come here expecting NYC style, but man this was good Italian food.
The Gelato here is amazing! They offer many different flavors, and somehow it tastes creamier than ice cream. They also offer Italian meals here. I really like the pizza that they make here, and their appetizers are nice too. Only thing is pricing. I wish they bring the prices lower.
Great little place with fantastic pizza. A little noisy and slightly cramped, but friendly staff and delicious gelato. Perfect for lunch.
You will feel like you're stepping into a restaurant in Italy. Gluten free pizza offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, which will be better than you've ever had anywhere else. The gelato is incredible. This is a destination restaurant. I will stop here every time I'm in Pittsburgh.
I've gotten the gelato here a few times and it's always very good. I especially recommend the peach mango or nutella. Last week I finally tried their pizza and it did not disappoint. They have nice thin Italian pizzas. I got the margherita pizza and their calzone. The basil on the pizza was very fragrant and everything tasted fresh. They ricotta cheese in the calzone was insanely creamy. I love coming here to try their many gelato flavors but now I'll be here to try the pizzas too.
Good crust, decent cheese, sauce needs a lot of work. The ice cream was amazing. It's definitely worth going for.
Delicious pizza and salads. Always a wonderful experience. One of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh.
