Metropolitan Bakery & Cafe reviews
12Had a fantastic sandwich today at Metropolitan today. Also tried the Cuban coffee. That was amazing. My new go to coffee and sandwich place. You've got to try this GREAT little spot!
Major changes to metro U City. If you used to come here and love it, be aware it is nothing like it used to be. Entire experience was a disaster. Flies everywhere. No more long list of specialty lattes/drinks. Out of sausage at 9: 30AM? No longer using the rewards card where your 10th coffee / sandwich are free. When I asked about this and the drink list they looked at me like I was crazy and said "we've never had a snickerdoodle latte" etc. No longer bring drinks to you. No longer bring the food to you. No longer used plates. Trash bass music playing (this is coming from a Bassnectar fan). 25 minute wait for latte- no "sorry for the wait. " So sad.
This place a neighborhood gem. Bread always good. Sandwiches poppin with an excellent café vibe
Hard pass.
I started coming into this establishment because it made me happy to have a local small business close to where I work/study. Unfortunately, they’ve gone through some changes on the menu, supposedly fresher ingredients etc. But the quality has just become more subpar: pastries are stale, sandwiches are tasteless (not sure how fresh the ingredients are). The staff is inefficient so be ready to wait a while for the most basic order. They just can’t keep up with the demand. I recently ordered a sandwich, waited 15 minutes for a wrong order (though I appreciate they give a heads up that they are slow but that’s over the top especially because of they’re not understaffed).
The cashier is lovely and courteous, but not the other ones so that’s just rubbing the wrong way.
Overall don’t go! Walk a little further on Chesnut to get better options!
Pretty darn great. You'd be hard pressed to find a better cafe in philly. They have got quality breakfast sandwiches and they also have delicious artisanal breads.
I just moved out of the area but I'm still thinking about Metro! Sad that I haven't yet found a cafe as inviting or tasty as this place in my new area.
I was a regular here for a little over a year and the staff was always very friendly and courteous. The food is great (esp.the focaccia sandwiches and the classic bagel and lox) and they have a bunch of cool drinks to try. All the coffees and teas you'd expected, but also a nice set of sparkling waters and the reason I kept coming back initially - the wonderful hot apple cider! The item is seasonal but warms the soul in the winter months, a must-have.
In summary: go to this place as soon as you get a chance! It's a favorite of mine and I'd still be going if I didn't live so far.
I work at central city Toyota we had an assortment of croissants this morning and it was absolutely delicious triple thumbs up
I absolutely love this bakery cafe! They have freshly baked items everyday, amazing sandwiches made to your liking and tons of homemade goods like pastries, cream cheese, and sweets. Their coffee is really good too. I usually have a latte here and it's pretty bold and flavorful. I believe it is run by a couple who are super friendly and warm.
This is located right across from the Panera bread and movie theater. It's a small cafe but still has tons of room inside for seating. I highly recommend this place, it'll become a favorite!
My family ordered breakfast from here while visiting. The food was really flavorful and delicious. The coffee was great as well. The Strawberry rhubarb crumb cake was an absolute hit with my 13 year old. Thank you for an amazing breakfast!
The fresh breads here are amazing. Ten times better than anything bought at a grocery store.
LIED ABOUT PUTTING SOY MILK IN MY CAPPUCCINO TWICE even when I went to double check. I’m allergic.
