I was visiting Philly but I am originally from New York. Heard about Morimoto from Iron Chef and decided to go on a date night. The restaurant was easy to find and seats were not hard to get. Hannah was our waitress and she was Phenomenal! She accommodated our seating preferences and she made amazing recommendations for dinner! We had the Omasake, the crispy rice, the pork belly dish and a couple other dishes. All the dishes and drinks were delicious and we had Champagne. Hannah was attentive and she created an extraordinary experience for us. The staff in general was inviting and fun. Shout out to back of house for creating an experience we will not forget. We had an amazing time and we thank everyone who offered their services to us.

Went for an Anniversary dinner. Everything, front to back, was outstanding. Food? I had the seasonal sushi and each piece was a delight. Wife had a dish that was, in part, prepared at the table. Drinks were superb. Dessert was awesome. The service was top-tier at every turn. Morimoto maintains its spot as a legendary night out.

So, honestly, we were very disappointed by this Starr restaurant that boasts its namesake of an Iron Chef. Maybe our expectations were too high due to this, but it certainly did not come close to the experience other Starr restaurants have set for us. The main course was overcooked and bland. The appetizers weren't bad, certainly not great though. Sushi was also okay. Desserts were really good. Drinks mostly good, though had to send one back. The noise was overwhelming and really made it difficult to enjoy anything else. The service was great so props for that. Definitely go somewhere else if you are willing to pay around 400 dollars for a meal.

The overall quality of sushi is unmatched in Philadelphia. The seasonal menu is ever changing and the fish is always fresh. Must try the sorbets and ice creams as they are made in house. Emphasis on the ice cream.

Food wasn’t anything special. The only thing that stood out to me was the spinach side. Very good.

Very loud. Service was cold. Not personable.

Overall this place is all hype. The hostess described me to her seating staff as “eagle man” perhaps because I am bald.

Have had much better food for half the price.

I am not a big fan of Starr which is lot of hype but poor food. However I have to admit that the sushi were extremely good. They had a few Japanese import too and they were delicious. Shuts are fresh, soft, and smooth. Pricey but definitely worth it.
Going with the hype, the music was too loud and it doesn’t convey for a good convo. So go for the food not conversation.
Update: came here again ordered some sushi at 7: 45 pm then waited an hour and half to be served food came at 9pm. By the time sushi came out sake was gone so much for try to pair.

Five stars well deserved.

I’d heard great things about Morimoto, but I was headed out of town. I decided I’d try take-out and figured rolls would be a solid test for comparison to other restaurants. Three rolls and one wagyu dumpling dish traveled over an hour before we enjoyed them.

The verdict: the dumplings were impressive and the rolls were leagues above anything else we’ve had.

We can’t wait to go back and enjoy a dining experience as Morimoto intends.

This restaurant took me a long time to discover, I was waiting for an important occasion because it is an expensive place with a great reputation! We enjoyed a delicious dinner as a couple, however there was nothing that left me fascinated, perhaps the perfection in the cooking of the salmon that was really very well cooked, I must emphasize that the attention is A + in the right measure and with a pleasant conversation, all at time and covering our needs, it is an eclectic and interesting place, it is an experience

Wonderful experience. The staff was wonderful. We went on a Wednesday at 5 when they opened while on vacation. We had the restaurant to ourselves for an hour. It was all very good.

My mother and I are in Philly for the eras tour and we decided to check out Morimoto while in town. The entire experience was phenomenal! The decor is stunning. Our server, Hannah, was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was super personable and friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful. She advised us on what would be a suitable portion as neither of us eat a ton. She went out of her way to make our experience wonderful and any restaurant would be lucky to have her. Wonderful experience all around!

We dined in March 2023, after being in town for the SZA concert.

I am from FL and usually get sushi 3x a week religiously. I was excited about visiting Morimoto.

The ambiance was stunning and we watched in awe as the roomed changed its vibrant colors, however the food was mediocre at best. We got 3 sushi rolls and appetizer and we were pretty disappointed. Rolls we’re super chewy and lacked flavor profile.

Our Server cannot remember his name but he was extremely kind. Offered us a selection of Matcha Cake and Sorbets that were lovely.

Ended up getting Cheesesteaks afterwards.

If coming for the ambiance we definitely recommend but for the food, I’ve had better at local holes in the wall in Orlando.

Overall 6/10 for Service, 6/10 for Ambiance, 3/10 for Food Taste and Quality.

Food was good, I especially liked egg custard, tuna belly tartare, and dessert; but did not like the rest that was part of omakase. Great service and atmosphere. It was a unique experience.

Such a great dinner spot! The atmosphere is a little loud but it is beautiful inside, love the dim lighting.for apps we had spicy tuna crispy rice, wagyu beef, and wagyu dumplings.they were all delicious! For drinks i would recommend the lychee martini.

Good service and quality food but personally, not worth $200/person. Ordered omakase. We should have picked our menu.

We reserved the special room downstairs and while food was perfectly ok the acoustics were a torture chamber. They pretend not to know this but it is impossible to not realise. A number of guests developed headaches and what should have been a wonderful dinner turned into a terribly unpleasant experience. Upstairs acoustics where much better. Do not reserve the room downstairs.
