Northbrook Canoe Co reviews
18Participanted in this Canoe and Dine event. I'd recommend this event for something different. Good for a couple date or group.
Great afternoon on the river for my son’s birthday! Easy booking, easy check in and a great price!
We came to Northbrook yesterday to do some tubing, but they let us know that the water was pretty chilly so we switched to kayaks. We've never tried kayaks before but always wanted to, and we had a blast! I highly recommend planning your trip after there's been plenty of rain, that way the water is up a bit and you won't get stuck. We've done tubing before when the water is low and we'd have to get up and walk our tubes to deeper spots, so I'd imagine that would be a big pain with kayaks.
We did the 1.5 hour trip, but you can take your time and get out at spots if you want to, you're not held to the time estimate. Also, as an added bonus, the woman driving the bus to the bridge gave us some historical context on the area and it was super interesting.
I took my sons yesterday for a 2.5 hour kayak trip. It was our first time there, but we are experienced kayakers. Luckily, we picked a beautiful day to go. I booked the reservation online a day ahead without any issues. When we arrived, there were several helpful staff members to check us in. We signed a waiver, paid a refundable $20 cash deposit, picked up our life jackets and got on a bus to the launch. That was maybe a 10/15 min drive. The staff gave us the low down on the river and where the hazards were and we were off. The water was very low in spots so we got stuck a few times. There were a lot of tubing people meandering down stream so we had to dodge a lot of people. There were some lovely swimming spots and the water was clear and cold. I would recommend bringing a couple of water bottles with you as well as a waterproof bag. You can also lock up valuables when you check in. I forgot to check out and get my $20 back so they called me. I asked them to just keep the money so they said they would donate it to the staff lunch fund. There are snacks and drinks too you can purchase on site. Bathrooms and changing rooms were very clean. Overall, a fantastic experience and we’ll definitely be back!
Love going tubing here! Makes the logistics easier for reasonable price and you get to ride a school bus. If you have your own tube and pump it's only $10/pp for a drop off.
This place has time-left-behind charm, with its ramshackle facilities, buses, and unsprayed gear, but the staff are poorly organized. We waited AN HOUR for our trip in the hot dusty lot by following instructions and arriving ahead of our res by 20 mins. Bus driver was nice but my 12 year old nephew could have done better guiding folks in and out of the water. Oh and if you're allergic to cats, you'll have to suffer through your allergies to pay for your trip and start it off itching as they're stuffed inside the small un air conditioned unclean shack that serves as a check in point. I'd say find another way to spend your day.
It was a cute little place in the country side where they rent you inner tubes and drive you to a certain location on the brandywine creek and drop you off and let you float down stream at you desired time.we chose 3 hours and it was very relevant to be honest.we had a blast
Great time canoeing. Wait time with a reservation was short, the guide on the way out was cordial and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.
Great experience renting canoes from these folks. Everyone we met was very friendly and super helpful. The young lads they have working here can carry canoes like they weigh nothing at all.
We tubed. They need better access for older people to be able to get out of the tube. I won't go again for that reason
Had an excellent time canoeing down the beautiful Brandywine creek - the family that runs the business is knowledgable and friendly.
Very pleased with our canoe trip July 4th. The staff made it an easy experience from booking to transportation to the launch site.
I can't wait to return! It was my husband's first time river kayaking and I wanted to bring him here. The price, the experience, and the staff are all worth the visit! This was a breeze for my first timer and the morning out on the river is a beautiful addition to any nearby vacationers. We opted fornthe 2.5 hour trip, which was perfect for us! The staff give you more time if you need it, but we made it down the river in 3 hours because we pulled off to the side for lunch and to enjoy the scenery. We highly recommend Northbrook Canoe Co.
You better have some upper body strength! It was so fun, will do again, takes about 4 hours to go down
I don’t normally leave reviews but this company by far DESERVES it! I can not say enough good things about this place, they are sooo warm and welcoming! EVERYONE! Such a cute place, we did the canoe & dine trip and it was an amazing experience. The staff phenomenal, the trip perfect, the food delicious!
I heard about Northbrook Canoe co.from a client of mine and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! July 4th my little sister and I did the 1 hr Canoe rental from Embreeville. It was both of our first time canoeing; she had the time of her life! A week later I came back with a date to enjoy the Canoe and Dine with dinner included. The food was amazing, workers were generous & the night was perfect! I will definitely be coming back a third time.
We indulged in the paddle and dine experience with a 2 hour canoe trip followed by dinner at the food shack. Food was great and the hosts were fabulous. Annoy wait to go again
Went here last week when we had the air quality warning and ended up being the only people who came that day. Side note the air was fine. It was beautiful and so much fun. The water was moving slow and they let us know before hand but we still chose the longer route. It was a bit on the colder side that day but that was on us for not doing good research. I definitely want to go back on a regular day to see how busy it gets but I loved having it all to ourselves. Just make sure to pack plenty of snacks and bring ice and drinks. They have cooler floats.
