Official BBQ & Burgers/Official Brewing Co. reviews
18Food was amazing and seasoned to the T. Great selection of their own beer to choose from. I love their sauce! Great place to bring your family and friends.
Hidden gem in a neighborhood. Food was delicious! Staff was friendly! Would definitely go back!
We were staying up the street at a local hotel and randomly found this place. It was a cool spot. Staff was very friendly and speedy service. We spoke with other patrons who asked how we found this place. Lol. We laughed and said by accident. They said we were in for a treat. They were right! Especially if you are a fan of BBQ sauces. I would definitely recommend The Official for a dinner or lunch. We will see this place again in our travels.
This is easily some of the best BBQ I’ve had in the North East US. They have a great quality and great prices with even a generous military discount. We had the sampler and also some wings. The wings easily stole the show but everything else was great too. My only criticism would be that the brisket and ribs were a bit more dry than my preference. I love the atmosphere. The not only have good BBQ but they have some great home brew. I also love that they had a little SNES in the corner for my boys to play. As for service, everyone was nice and friendly. A true 5/5
Everything was so good I'm proud to say my friend owns the place and is killing it with everything he dose there
Great little place! It's nice to find a small independent place where they do everything themselves. Definitely not fast food.and that is the whole point! I will be back next time I'm in town.
Good beer, great food, local talent. I don't know why we hadn't tried Official sooner. The sour and java stout were my favorites, but we tried all the beer on tap and everything was tasty. The English brown was also good, slightly sweet with a strong flavor. We ordered the family platter. All the BBQ was excellent: fall off the bone ribs, fresh cut coleslaw, and crisp fries. The green beans were too peppery for our kids, but we liked them. The pork was well seasoned and all sauces represented their genres well. We happened in on a night with love music, which added to the fun. They serve Reading root beer for the kids. They also have a very generous military/EMS/cop discount. We will be back.
It was really good. I’ve driven past it a handful of times and I finally decided to stop. Friendly, clean, and they have a nice beer selection. It’s a good BBQ joint. I had brisket tacos.
On my way back from the Susquehanna I thought to myself I haven't had good BBQ in awhile, so we looked official BBQ up. Located in a very quiet tranquil area of dauphin county is this hidden gem. I had the brisket wich was very tender. I also had an official pilsner beer. Everything was good and the prices weren't bad at all for good BBQ. Will be visiting again.
The food was pretty good. Enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the brisket sandwich. My friends enjoyed the Carolina pulled pork sandwich as well. The portion was also good. However, the service was not good. Our table was dirty. We had to clean it ourselves. The cashier was snippy and passive aggressive. He a answered questions by saying it’s on the menu instead of answering questions. He talked to his staff in the kitchen rudely as well showing no respect to them. The slurpies did not taste like they had much spirit in them as compared to comparable drinks at the supermarket that sells a similar on tap slurpie. So because of the customer service experience My score is low. I hope other people get better service. We were highly disappointed as our group definitely provided over $200 to the establishment but maybe that was not important to them.
Good overall experience. Very comfortable informal dining. All of the sauces tested were good and I do believe those fries are the best in HARRISBURG. You can quote me on that. They can really hold up to the vinegar sauce and remain crispy. The pulled pork was piled high and remained tender and still was steaming when I lifted the top 10 minutes later after not being able to pull myself away from those fries. I did get to test the half rack of ribs and they seems good but they are not my area. My nephew thought they were very good. Save your money for a special meal here while the prices are higher you are getting big portions. I would rather pay a good price for a satisfying meal than some fast food mush that is soon best forgotten?
️?
We stopped here during a visit from South Carolina, and the food, beer, and friendliness made us feel right at home! Top-notch smoked chicken wings. And the beers are so good that we actually brought two growlers home! Try the wings, the Official Pale Ale, and Ray's Catfish Ale. Cheers to your continued growth & success!
If I had a last meal request, I would get a 5 gallon bucket of their green beans and bacon and go to town. The wife loves the pulled pork, and my kid thinks the mac and cheese is fantastic.
Brisket was very dry, ribs had very little too no flavor and were also very overcooked.pulled pork was good and so was the grilled cheese which is the only reason its more than 1 star.sides were also sub par, overall worse than average, and i would not recommend trying it
Never again.all beer was flat.foods was way over priced.we did local eat.only reason why we bought food. Mac and cheese was nasty
This is my first bad review. Very unhappy with this place. Had the Official stout. It was the worst Stout I ever had. It tasted very sour. Didn't drink it but got charged for it. Food very pricey. Fries were so salty.
Could say more but that's enough I just want to forget about this bad experience.
UPDATE! I was looking at my credit card purchases on line a few days later and saw.much to my dismay, that this place put another $50 charge on my card! How could they do that!? ! They sure we're not that busy. Called my credit card company about it.
Tried this place last evening. Looked hopeful. Had high hopes. Went around dinner time. Not sure if food was not hot and fresh, hard to tell. Ordered a sampler, brisket, ribs, wings, Mac n cheese and coleslaw. The brisket was cold and chewy, ribs were so dry we could barely chew them and the wings were also dry. Mac n cheese and coleslaw were only thing we enjoyed. Tried two of the beers and they weee also not good or cold. Had the ipa and English ale. Neither tasted good.
I would consider trying again maybe earlier in the day, maybe the food would be better.
My family and I were passing through and stopped to eat here. It was great food, great service and fun games to play while waiting for your food. Definitely recommend stopping here for some yummy bbq
