Oyster House reviews
17The food is pretty good. I got 2 raw oysters and fried calamari. The oysters tasted really fresh and nice. The calamari was pretty good but it wasn’t top notch.
Nice fresh tasting food with great service. Everything was delicious we came for restaurant week and had a great time.
First place I eat when I come to Philly. Used to be "Docks" and has improved with the changed name and owners. Either Uber or walk there - parking is down the street and expensive- expect to wait a while if you don't have a reservation. Good choices of tap beers and oysters. If it swims in the ocean, and they serve it, then you will enjoy it a heck of a lot more at Oyster House than around the corner at Prime.
Charlotte was awesome server in a very busy oysterbar. Great new England calm chowder. Especially when we added a touch of sherry. Very good Fisherman stew. Tasty but small appetizer of calamari not over breaded or overcooked. Disappointing Brussel sprouts overcooked and oily. I wasn't charged for them as they arrived after all the other food was consumed. Thanks again Charlotte.
The sansom Street oyster House is a classic. You go there primarily for oysters but they also have fish and lobster. It's a beautiful space and efficiently run.
Amazing service and oyster are fresh. Any questions you have on origin and types, the servers are very knowledgable.
We were in town for the Eagles game. And stayed an extra day to explore the city.
I found this restaurant because it was participating in Philadelphia restaurant week. When I looked on the website, I saw an intriguing happy hour menu.
And, we decided to check it out.
From the moment we walked in, and the hostess greeted us we were impressed! We score of the last table in the bar for their wonderful happy hour menu. Which included a signature cocktail and Two dollar great quality oysters. Among a few other appetizers that we didn’t try.i saw other guests to be enjoying them.and, they looked great.
Since it was restaurant week they allowed us to stay at the same table in the bar to have dinner when the dinner menu opened for service at 5 PM. We did the restaurant week menu selections which included clam chowder, lobster roll, and a chocolate, dessert. All were high-quality exceptional dishes.
Our server was terrific. The bartenders were outstanding. The decor was warm and inviting. The overall crowd was nice. Not too stuffy. A casual, fun and laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommend!
It was a sunny, late morning, just before the lunch rush. I was waiting for the guitar shop to open next door, and I happened to snack-ish. I sat at the bar and enjoyed great bar service, amazing oysters, and I even got a lobster roll in the mix. I washed it all down with one of the best dirty martinis that I've had in Philly. As I said, it was a guitar day.not a work day!
Been going for years. I liked the old school ambience in years past. Now it is cool and hip, but food as great as alway
Still a 5 star experience. Best in class shockers. Superb martinis. A favorite to return to multiple times.
A little noisey, service excellent. Ordered the calamari, was just ok and smaller portion than we are used to in nj establishments. Ordered the crabcake, wife enjoyed, I had the seafood platter and the serving was ample, swordfish very tasty, the shrimp/scallops and broccoli all very good in a nice light sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend. Only wish they served a littled bread to mop up the remaining sauce.
Amazing food, everything was so fresh and tasty! Service was quick and friendly. The lobster roll was DELICIOUS!
Wow! Food is phenomenal and definitely worth a brag. Only thing that didn’t sit right is no horseradish & hot sauce automatically with the oysters haha. Great place and great selection of drinks as well.
Went during the weekday. Food was good but I set my expectations higher then I guess I should have. Waiter was far off and distant. Ask for blue cheese olives and got regular…place was very loud for a weekday. I don’t think I would revisit maybe for happy hour but no for a 200 plus dinner for two.
We tried the Fried seafood platter and it was great! Everything was great tasting. Also we went during happy hour! They have a house made ginger beer which won’t disappoint.
These oysters from various ocean regions have a super delicious taste, sweet, crispy, tender, very fresh without any fishy smell, fully satisfying the taste buds' pursuit!
