Palm Tree Market reviews
13I really enjoy the sandwiches from this store, but the blatant disrespect and borderline racism has become upsetting. My first incident was when the female cashier didn’t greet me (black female) but greeted the next (non black female) customer. Once the cashier noticed my concern she then said hello. I brushed that incident off as a one off, and decided maybe it’s the cashier’s issue. I decided to try them again today, and a male cashier THOROUGHLY examined my $20 bill, which was also concerning. Once I asked about his store practices and examining money he said that it’s “random” practice. I’m not saying that this store practice racism, I am saying that me, as a black female will not be patronizing then anyone.
Their paninis are amazing. Each one is packed with flavor and umami. My favorite is the p6 - cold cuts, Swiss cheese and sun dried tomatoes.
Lived in NL neighborhood 28 years. Been buying hoagies there since they opened. Purchased two hoagies that cost 17.25. I had a twenty with me only. Wanted to buy the a bag of chips that cost 3.00. I asked cashier If I could bring 25 cents later. He said no. He said you can buy the chips that cost 2.19. Couldn’t believe in this day and age that for 25 cents, he just let me have it. Unfortunately we live in such a selfish world. NEVER WILL GO BACK! Keep your Quarter!
Great food everyone is very nice except the one women behind the counter very rude it’s ashame makes me not wanna spend money at there business again used to go there everyday now I won’t even bother to step foot in there just for the fact that’s she’s so rude
I’ve been to this establishment numerous time, always enjoy the cold sandwiches from here, but I would stay away from the hot sandwiches since they tend to use microwave to heat up.
Wonderful neighborhood market. Quick sandwiches. Specialty snacks n thangs. Always friendly. Always fast. One of the best places in the city to stop and get something tasty, heathy if u like, and very very clean here as well. They’ve been doing this for many years and have been great the entire time.
Usually very satisfied with my food but today I was not given everything I paid for. Certain items were left out but the price was the same. Hopefully next time I receive everything I paid for. I was too far away from the store to go back.
Watched me like a hawk.
I apologize to people of color if this is what they go through, but I was watched as I walked through the entire store, as I had never been to the store.both people making the food were leering at me. The food I got was Meh. I was curious so I wasn't grab and go.
I won't go back.
Wonderful neighborhood market with a wide variety of items. Their salads and sandwiches are superb. Very healthy and delicious. Friendly and attentive staff
First time checking out this neighborhood spot on 2nd street. They had a lot of options and the food made to order wasn't bad. I would give a higher rating if the woman making the food wasn’t so miserable. Definitely ruined my experience.
The deli food is pretty decent but one of the women behind the counter has a major attitude. You’re better off going to 3js or the foodery, which are both within a block
I’ve been frequenting this spot for the last four years! Consistently good fresh food, friendly staff, high quality groceries
First time there and it felt like I was a long time customer. Very good vegetarian options as well as meats and grocery items. Reminds me of a real bodega but way cleaner with more stuff.
Definitely my new stop.
Could only be improved farther by reducing disposable plastics.
