Pappy's Schoolhouse Restaurant & Tavern reviews
17Very nice beer menu for such a small venu. Good selection of mixed drinks as well. Weekly specials and a high quality food menu. First and foremost it's a very nice bar and the food is mostly bar food with some exceptions such as weekly specials. That being said the food was great and the atmosphere is inviting. Stop by for a drink and quick bite.
My husband and I came here on our 'foodcation' as we didn't want to repeat and a lot of the other places we went to were super busy. The food was normal diner food, however it was good. This was more of a place to hang out with friends, drink, and eat bar food.
First time returning after their reopening, and I'm happy to say that the great food, good service, laid back atmosphere & affordable pricing hasn't changed. We have a new (old) local restaurant back in our rotation of favorite places to dine. They expanded the bar and the sound system is great. The rock wall behind the expanded portion of the bar looks really nice. Looking forward to outdoor area being cleaned up and sitting out there during better weathered days. Thursday is still "wing night"! Holiday specials and celebrations on the calendar throughout the year. I'll have to check out the restrooms next time, before I can thoroughly comment on the cleanliness there. Several female patrons where there, so suspect it's up to snuff.
Best place I’ve been to in quite sometime. Service was great and the food was beyond quality. They put the local restaurants to shame. I got the Rueben and it was excellent.
This is a cool little place out in the sticks. They had great live music (country) and a good crowd of regulars. 8 or so beers on tap and maybe 30 overall in cans and bottles - all really cheap, too. Really fun crowd after a concert at nearby penn's peak.update: their saturday night karaoke is really fun
Not a great place. Go somewhere else. Waited a long time for our food and it wasn't good.
Their was no food cause the kitchen closes at 9 which is stupid. They should keep it open. BUT THE Karaoke was amazing and fun. I just dislike that the kitchen closes at a certain time they should keep it open till 12am
Service was slow. Not a good value for your money.
Had Cheesesteak Hoagies.
A basic Hoagie is made with lettuce, tomato and raw onion. That's what makes it a hoagie! To be charged for those three toppings is a ripe off!
Their french fries where refried and definitely not fresh fried. And, Seven dollars for the portion served was definitely not worth it.
Not going back.
My husband and I have been here twice now, once on a Saturday afternoon and once on a Sunday afternoon. Not very busy, and allowed for us to get to know the bartender, Heather, who is a gem. Food was delicious. Atmosphere is quaint. Establishment is very clean!
Quaint, quiet little place. Excellent food, great atmosphere. The broiled haddock was made to perfection. Creamy homemade Cole slaw, crispy, flavorful fries. The nacho appetizer fed 4 of us, heaping plate full of deliousous, beef nachos with fresh topping, served with salsa, jalapenos, & sour cream. Fresh broiled haddock, slaw & fries $11.95, nachos $9, cheesesteak & fries $7.95, margaritas $5.50.4 of us ate here for under $50. Great place!
The food was good, but the hateful politics on the sign outside means I will never spend another dime at this restaurant.
Yummy but they didn't have desserts except ice cream this past Monday. Service was wonderful.
Very friendly staff. The food is wonderful! Thursday is wing night, Friday is fish fry night!
Such a cute local place. Don't get here often, but when we do the food is always delish! Pierogi's are AMAZINGLY GOOD! Never had bad food. Love local places. Everyone is so friendly.
First time there. Sat down at 645 did not leave until 915. Saw one other couple leave before they even go their soup and saw another party leave without getting their meal. It was not even close to being busy but the waitress said it was crazy, unless they have another room that was full i do not know how it could be crazy. And when dinner finally came out only three received their meal initially, then a fourth then 15 minutes later the last two came out. One meal was cold, one was over done. Greatly disappointed in the meals and Pappy's Schoolhouse will never see this family ever again. Which is a shame because we could have been regulars. We are new to the area To give this place a one star is over doing it.
We had fabulous dinner at Pappy's. The food was freshly prepared, interesting menu with a large variety of options. My chocolate martini was well made and the staff was very friendly. I would have given 5 stars however there was only one waitress and a bartender. It was busy and they were overwhelmed. I will return and highly recommend this spot for a light fare or dinner. My next visit may up the stars to 5!
