Penguin Bookshop reviews
15Wonderful. My whole family lives this book store. Independent book stores are so important and we love to support Penguin. Staff is wonderful and helpful. Great atmosphere
I only visit Pittsburgh a few times a year, but I always make the trip over to Penguin to treat myself to a good read. Located in the scenic heart of Sewickly, stepping inside Penguin Bookshop feels like being inside of a postcard. The folks here couldn’t be nicer and are so helpful if you’re shopping for yourself or someone else.
AA+ experience! I ordered a book online and had some confusion but I left a message and they called me as soon as possible and had made sure my book was making it to my new address.
If you want to support an independent bookstore and aren’t sure if you’ll get customer support I can assure you they’re on the ball! 100%.
Will definitely have my business in the future!
What a great place! I was looking for a hard to find book and when I called Penguin Bookshop, not only did Mary, the person on the phone, help me out with securing an order, she called twice to make sure it was going to be delivered on time to the store, and called to confirm it had arrived.
A great place to visit, and the staff is helpful and friendly.
Ordered a couple of books for store delivery. Very pleasant store and interaction picking up the books was excellent. I was even able to have the books gift wrapped which was unexpected and greatly appreciated!
Such a magical bookstore in Sewickley. They had the latest releases and so much more. A great variety for their size and the best children’s section. I also received a surprise discount at the register on one of my purchases. I love that the book sellers can talk book talk and give reccos. You can tell they love the store.
Attractive storefront, shelves are well organized. The stock is accessible and the children’s section adorable. However - I continue to return because of the thoughtful, engaging staff. The staff is exceptionally good at providing recommendations!
I absolutely love Penguin Bookshop! I first visited it a few months before the pandemic started and just loved the atmosphere, book selections, and the friendly staff. Since then, I haven't been able to go back in person but I have ordered from their online shop many, many times. The staff works with me to get my books shipped in a timely manner and they are also quick to respond to email inquiries. It's really important to support local, indie bookstores now more than ever and I can confidently say Penguin is one of my favorites.
I love getting new and exciting books from the Penguin! Susan is professional, knowledgeable, kind and always has the best recommendations.
Fantastic bookstore. The crown jewel of Sewickley, no doubt. Susan gives the best book recs, too.
My sister purchased Everything Beautiful in its Time written by Jenna Bush
Hager for me. The book came with a tote bag and in a very timely
manner as promised. Highly recommend Penguin Bookshop!
Wonderful, delightful book store! The customer service is great and it is such a pleasure to receive book recommendations for gift giving. Please support local shops they are truly a treasure!
Great little quaint bookshop. Great location in downtown and a fun selection of just about everything. I picked up a Penguin Clothbound edition of Anne Bronte. How fitting, right?
A small bookshop, but a friendly neighborhood bookshop all the same!
Great customer service. I ordered a crossword book that was out of stock and I received a call that day for a replacement option.
I've had very pleasant experiences at the Penguin Bookshop in PA's reopening phase. Sidewalk pickup is offered and touchless pickup inside. Hand sanitizer and gloves are available front and center and masks are required of patrons and employees, with plexiglass shielding around the desk/cashier's station.
The staff are friendly in answering my questions, efficient in special orders (including bearing with me on phone orders) and thorough in explaining current backorder status of some books. Every book I have gotten there is in perfect condition, unlike the typical condition from a certain online supplier. And it's nice to interract with an actual human being who knows the business.
Given the past few months, it couldn't be more clear that we need to Support Local Business!
