Penn Avon Campground reviews
15Wayne is a good guy, he has been helping my husband and I to get into Penn avon as soon as a site is available, he is very prompt on getting back to you with answers on your question.
Not a large campground but convenient to family and friends. Well kept. The shower rooms are the nicest I've seen anywhere.pets allowed. It's along Penns Creek but most of the creek front sites are seasonal.
Just stay overnight here when heading home to Virginia (half way point). Got there earlier than we thought we would and now we think we'll try and get more than overnite.
Great place. Quiet and just out of the way, meaning not far from everything you need. Second time here, will be back.
You are secluded geographically, but close enough to the road to hear some traffic. The campground was clean, and campers quiet. Bathrooms were clean and maintained, showers were hot. Not much to complain about except my lack of preparation.
Be advise the internet is spotty, so if you are planning to work remote, bring a hotspot. Outside of that our family had a blast and wish we could've stayed longer.
Very nice.well maintained and has sites for any style of camping with full hookups available
Nice quiet small campground. Well kept with Penn creek running behind it. Small play area for kids. We enjoyed our long weekend over Memorial day weekend. Beautiful area!
Stayed a few nights and we really enjoyed it. Very quiet and clean. The spots aren't too close together. Nice little campground.
0 amenities, roadway nearby is very noisy at night. Made a lomg term reservation here with a 44ft fifth wheel. Backed into a spot and all was fine until I receive a message asking me at the end of March to move my unit to lot 17. Lot 17 according to their office is for up to a 42 foot unit and is back against the creek bed. Literally the back of the site drops straight down. Lot 17 is also on the corner of the roadway without extra space. I paced the spot and showed the office lady that my unit where I would be comfortable backing it to during rainy season with soft ground and erosion would block site 18 and be into the road so that if a large unit took that corner wrong they would take out our unit. We were supposed to see the owner to talk. Never did instead got a text stating we needed to move to lot 17 regardless of our discomfort. We left March 30th then were asked again via text if they had another spot would be stay. We asked what lot and never got a reply. The secretary was extremely rude and told us "we did you a favor". I was a paying customer on an extended rental worth approximately $15k when all said and done.
The owner Wayne is a great guy. Always returns my texts and finds me availability when passing through. The campground is low key. Clean and very well kept. No pool or any big attractions. Just quiet relaxation. It doesn’t need the big amenities. The Wi-Fi is normally fast enough to stream tv. I’ve stayed at some super ghetto campgrounds so you really can appreciate how solid this place is put together. Everything from the water faucets to the power panel is in good locations on the sites. Everything is built sturdy. I’ve broken water valve knobs hooking my hose up before. Not a problem here. Winter months they go the extra mile to make sure the hook ups on their end do not freeze up. It’s just an all around positive campground and we always feel home when we get there.
Not open as advertised. Left us stranded at 10: 00 pm with no where to go. Clearly advertised as open 24 hours. No one answered phone. Unable to make online reservation. Website needs updating for online reservations
Just right, especially for this beginner camper!
Nice mix of short term and seasonal campers. Pet friendly but well cared for, everyone picks up after their dogs.
We're just starting out with our 19' camper. Plenty of space, right along Penns Creek with trees for shade, full hookups, wifi and cable, within 5 miles of grocery store and shopping as we learn the camper way.
While nerve wracking as we learn, had no real trouble parking the camper and got great help and tips from the well seasoned and experienced campers here.
A few pull through spots and some sites even accommodate the giant bus sized RVs!
The bath house is nice as well, centrally located in the campground. Lights on a self set timer so pay attention so you don't strand yourself in the dark. Showers are push button to conserve water but get warm nicely if your camper shower is a touch tight.
This had been a nice little escape.
Great campground in a beautiful setting. The owner and staff are amazing and I can't wait to return.
Great, quiet place. Nice playground for the kids. Pavillion and group camping is good too. Just if you have little kids there are no crafts are amenities or events and there's also no pool there is a cool Creek though
