Terrible customer service and appear intentionally designed to avoid paying for expenses. Worst of all they don't have preferred repairers but insist on using 3rd party assessors to approve any repairs your actual repair shop want to do. Horribly inefficient, delays repairs, and makes the repairs more expensive. The claim manager was also refused to contact the repair shop themselves, and was impossible to get a hold of on the phone to get updates or chase things up on the behalf of the repair shop. Despite contacting them dozens of times they refused to pay some costs amounting to several hundred dollars due to the repair shop getting things approved by the assessor, and not informing the manager directly, despite this being the system Penn setup. Was completely ridiculous and ended up having to pay several hundred dollars that should have been covered. Avoid, they may have cheaper ongoing fees but when you eventually make a claim you well ultimately end up out of pocket due to them being very difficulty to deal with.

Quite frankly this low cost insurance isn't worth the terrible customer service that you could say exists but getting through to someone is impossible. Numerous messages get no repsonse.

Call them if you want to wait 20 minutes to speak with someone. Pretty terrible rates and customer service. How is it that after switching from you to Erie Insurance, my rate went down 50%? Why have I've been overpaying to you jokers all this time is beyond me

A Big Let down here, I SEARCHED ONCE ON THE INTERNET AND ANOTHER COMPANY SAVED ME ALMOST $200. So I called penn customer service to discuss it their person seemed unconcerned, no ideas to save me money, so I decided our family would switch I called Penn National informed them made plans to stop auto debt in timely manner without a coverage break, I was and still am under the impression we were doing it in such a way that I would not owe them any money. I was under the impression their CSA knew what I was trying to do but instead right before Christmas their was another bill generated for "earned premium" what amounts to coverage for less than a month totaling more than what my new coverage costs me the entire month now what was to save us money has caused our family to double up right before Christmas. Proof once even a couple farmers get too big for their britches they fail too. Seems awfully intentional to us thus this bad review

I got in a accident almost 2 weeks ago that was 100% ther other drivers fault. I had to pay $260 ot of my pocket for a tow. I have to pay out of my pocket for a rental car. I have to pay for storage at a repair shop because the cats not being worked on? I've left messages with the appointed adjuster connie with no response? I've called the company and dealt with rude and ignorant people on the phone that just keep trtransferring me to leave another message with connie to find ott when they're coming to look at my car?

I was hit from behind by a vehicle and reported the claim right away. It then took 2 weeks for them to get back to me about the claim after telling me it was the insured persons fault for not responding to them, which I found out was a lie after getting my insurance involved to help me out. They wouldn’t cooperate with the insured and call at a time that was convenient for her and told me they would not pay me anything for my car until they heard from her.
Then, after getting my car in the shop, they delayed to pay the collision center and lied to them as well as to when they sent payment. The collision center was also frustrated.
They’re incompetent, slow, don’t return calls or emails, and push you off. Now after 6 weeks I have my car back. If you’re looking for an insurance company to work with.keeping looking!

Scam Artist at the best! Police report says their clients vehicle was at fault but because it was a true accident did not charge their driver with a chargeable offense since the officer was lenient they have denied the claim against them. If you get hit by anyone with their insurance be sure to have the officer throw the book at the driver so that Penn national Adjusters will understand that they are at fault. Good luck if you get Rebecca Guise.

My car had slid down my driveway during a snowstorm, wasnt even running and noone in the car. Filed a claim, (first claim in 13 yrs) just to find out that somehow the car i bought was not on my policy and ive been paying a premium on the car i traded in. My claim was denied and now im stuck here with $4,000 worth of damages which i am unable to pay out of pocket. Very unhappy this is a burden to me and my family financially

Got hit by one of their policy holders on 12/27. I was told I’d get contacted later that day by my adjuster (Meghan Campbell), and the appraiser should be at my house by the next day. No call and no appraiser. Their call center is horrendous, all they can do is transfer you to your adjuster who never answers the phone. Each adjuster the rep transferred me to went to voicemail, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, it didn’t ring at all just went to voicemail. The website is also pretty useless, you can’t even get an update on your claim unless you call and can wait days to get a response.
Due to them dragging their feet, I had to go through my own insurance to get a rental. The appraiser finally called me Monday night and was at my house on Wednesday, a week after the accident. He said the estimate would be done by next Monday. So I called him on Monday and turns out he finished it the next day.it was sitting on my adjusters desk for five days and neither one of them called me, I was always the one calling her. Every piece of advice she gave me was wrong. She said to go to enterprise and get a rental, but she didn’t make a reservation for me and they asked me to pay in full upfront!
For someone to not be at fault, I sure did a lot of the footwork getting my car in the shop! Penn National did not supply me with a rental, and I had to set up my own tow, which I would’ve had to pay for out of pocket as well if I didn’t eventually find a body shop paired with a towing company. Eventually got my car into the shop after two weeks. Worst experience with an insurance company ever! If you have the displeasure of coming in contact with them, I suggest you start looking for an attorney.

So, apparently, they charge $60 when you switch your car insurance to a new car which they don't mention when you call for a quote on how much the new car is going to cost to insure. RIDICULOUS! I have NEVER in my LIFE heard of such a fee. Just wow. Leaving them now.

If I could give this company negative reviews I would. Insurance rates are through the roof, no one is ever available to take your call, and if you sign up for autopay they won’t stop charging your account even after you cancel. Guess I’m going to have to change bank accounts and hire an attorney. Worst company EVER!

They are very impatient, unavailable when i need them, and when you leave voicemails like they ask they never call you back. Overall this company is unorganized and needs to get themselves together.

Car got hit by one of their insurance holders and I wasn't provided with a rental car and have not received the check for my vehicle! Even after 2 months of waiting! They also "stole" my car, they took it from it's location without informing me while it was still in my name

Very condescending and treated me like a scammer trying to get something that I shouldn't and the "estimator" over looked an area and I called them up and this one guy (Mike Dil***) said yeah sure tell you what I'll send the same estimator out to re check it okay, of which my reply was Great once he see what he missed all will be good but he was trying to see if I was hoping for a different estimator and pull one over and I got to tell you he has some real issues because it's all Identified on paper and if there was a duplicate I would think it would be noticed. You really had to hear his voice to appreciate what I'm trying to describe.good luck and there are to many companies out there to be treated like that by this one.look some where else.

Kathy Contor has been nothing but horrible to work with. She has a very disrespectful attitude. She seems miserable every time we speak on the phone. Good luck to anyone that has to deal with her! But on a somewhat positive note.everyone else that i have spoke with was more positive and helpful.

The worst company I've worked with in a long time. Awful customer service and awful hours.

I switched to Geico, and instead of charging me 420 a month it's now 160. That's with better coverage than PennNational too.
