What a horrible health system Penn State Hershey is. No help whatsoever. 1st you wait hours to be seen. 2nd you still wait hours after you go to a room to be seen. This is not how a hospital should be run. Finally when you get a bill that's not covered by insurance, you try to set up payment arrangements. Sounds good at first until you get a notice that they are sending the outstanding balance to collections! Even after you've made payments. Either someone is not doing their job or Penn State Hershey does not care. My Dr.left Penn State Hershey and went with UPMC.

Sitting in the ER we watched a older man ask 3 nurse to help him go to the rest room after he been sitting here for over 4 hours no one would stop and help him and when I went to the front desk to get him help the lady in the ER rolled her eyes and did nothing but call security but no help for the man stuck in a wheelchair

I'm rating ALL the doctors that helped my son. I really appreciate it and could never thank them enough. The nurses on the 6th floor that helped and cared for my son were the greatest and I greatly appreciate them. As far as the ICU most of the nurses seem to have a problem for no reason and then make you feel uncomfortable for what? ! They didn't intimate me especially the one that popped in my son's room twice and she wasn't his nurse but for some reason she thinks she Intimates plp.which I find hilarious. Her little friend who I guess feels the same who knows but that's how children act. The last 2 nurses that cared for him were the best and was always polite and did not try to make me feel uncomfortable at all and they were so sweet and patient with my son.

Took daughter to emergency room, was in a ED room-not triage for over 8 hours, saw both ED physician and specialist but did not receive any nursing care during ENTIRE VISIT. When discharge instructions were presented-after requesting, a RN name was present on d/c instructions but did not enter the room the entire 8 hours we were there. ED nursing supervisor presented d/c instructions and ignored complaint about nurse who was on d/c instructions not providing ANY care or even entering room during our visit. HMC aware of issue, has not returned contact since being made aware.

The er is a joke I went coughing up blood and shortness of breath. Sat in the er for 12 hrs before I got a cat scan. I guess coughing up blood and not breathing is a medical emergency. I had nothing to drink or eat for 36 hrs

Unreal my child is 9 and no one thought it would be a good idea to let me know that she won't be seen for another 2 hrs! Shame on this hospital! She hadn't eaten since the night before so she could be put to sleep for the MRI! And the receptionist was so Disgusting and disrespectful! After this I think Philadelphia children's hospital will be the hospital I choose. This hospital should be ashamed.they had a nurse come talk to me about she is sorry. Sorry isn't being 2 hrs behind. I honestly truly dislike this hospital the bedside manner doesn't exist and it's very sad that a hospital is allowed to get away with a 3 hr wait! Worst HOSPITAL

I ended up in acute liver failure at 26, scary, unsure and was well taken care of by each team member, and nurse. After being admitted into the hospital, every test they could run was ran, and they did all they could to give me answer. In the past I've brought my kids here as well and have always been shown respect, concern and never felt I was wrong for bringing them. The Children's Hospital side is awesome and they truly care about their patients. If more people understood that wait times are expected in an ER that has no room and is trying their best, reviews might be better. You just have to put yourself in their shoes for 10 seconds and understand they are trying, but it's also a trauma unit that deals with life or death situations.

ED for pediatric is absolutely horrible…my one year old preemie has RSV badly…urgent care sent us to The ED because she was wheezing…they failed to check on my daughter I had to constantly yell at the nurses to check on her pulse and oxygen. We waited almost 5 hours to be seen and she was WHEEZING! Freaking wheezing…I will never return to the ED at Hershey.

I recently visited the Emergency Room. My 6 week old son had a bad cough and wasn’t feeling well. I arrived at the same time as another couple with their newborn baby, around 9: 15pm. They were taken back rather quickly. My son saw a nurse for triage at 10pm. I then waited in the lobby waiting area until 12: 45. According to the nurses, the pediatric portion of the facility was at maximum capacity. I, however, saw 4 different children and their families leave 40 min prior. One of those families being the couple who arrived at the same time as myself. I asked the nurse again why my son hasn’t been seen by a doctor. She told me with an attitude that it’s not by arrival but by how quickly a patient needs seen. I told her that my son was 6 weeks old. How is he not a priority. She said I understand but the pediatric is full. Again shortly and with an attitude. I took my son and left. I went to UPMC Harrisburg and he was seen immediately. He had a fever, that Hershey didn’t detect. He had his tests drawn, doctor and pediatrician seen him, all in About an hour or less. He ended up having pneumonia and was in the hospital for a week. I will never go to this hospital again. How a sick 6 week old infant isn’t a priority is beyond me. Don’t waste your time here. Staff isn’t friendly or helpful. Id give it zero stars if I could.

The Dr my mother had was a sadistic demon. My mother was cognitive and aware but in a ventilator and her Dr some Indian woman in the Micu basically turned my mother’s ventilator off in front of me without my father present and without warning so I could see my mom couldn’t breathe. The fear in my mother’s eyes is the only thing I see. That Dr pushed my mother out to a Ltech hospital and pretty much murdered my mom. I hope that woman suffers like she made my mother suffer and I pray she suffers the same like she made my family suffer. If I was shot and dying I’d go to a vet before I let that female demon Josef Mengele treat me.

Thinking about that time i was having a mental breakdown (depression) and your security tackled me like a criminal and then threw me in a room where nobody would talk to me or acknowledge me for 3 days. Lights on 24/7 which is a common tactic used to torture prisoners. I had to walk laps around the small room i was in just yo try and save my sanity. All the while begging for a CAT scan i originally went there for. Now my PTSD is worse. Nurses would laugh and talk about the patients on suicide watch. Maybe when dealing with suicidal patients, don’t stick them with nurses, security, or doctors who think it’s funny.

Literally the second worst hospital I have ever been to. The worst is Carroll hospital in Maryland. Both of them heavily use PAs in their ED and insist you call them doctors. Also is it really necessary to keep patients in the ED for 3 days for suicide watch? I would punch anyone in the face if you try to lock me up in a room without any warm food for 30 minutes. And they call panic attacks “fake” reaction. Wish they had gone to real med schools. Lol. Go back to Germany.
