15In and out was easy, except the rental car services can be much smoother, especially Dollar. Give extra time if you plan to rent and return a car from here. Established an EZ-pay toll account a few weeks before your trip and carry your tag with you, add the rental car in and you will save some money and headaches.
I don't use Philadelphia airport. In fact, it's been years since I've flown out of there. I keep needing to give rides to people who are using it such as a brother-in-law and then a sister of mine. They usually have some complaints about it and I keep telling them to try flying out of some other airports which is what we've done. I give it three stars because hey it's still standing but I know they're typically not the friendliest or most helpful there and it feels like it could use a big overhaul of cleaning and decor.
If I could give negative zero Stars I would. This is absolutely the worst airport I've ever been in. It is absolutely filthy and employees, when you can find one, are disgustingly rude.
Walkways in terminals are narrow and overcrowded. Half of the sinks in the bathrooms were inoperable. The water stations (I only found fountains, no bottle filling stations) are few and far between, with only one of two fountains working at low water pressure.
I was only in one terminal, C, so hopefully this was the worst one.
Too long line for security. U must reach 3 hour before your flight time otherwise u might end up loosing your flight. But very quick and efficient TSA agents too.
I travel multiple times a month all over the US. PHL is disgusting. Filthy. Gross bathrooms. Carpets filthy. This makes the old LaGuardia look like the best airport ever. If I was a tourist arriving here I would ask to get back on the plane.
Was there again today, same old pile of manure. Actually had two cops give me opposite instructions at the very same time! The place is run and manned by idiots!
Decent airport. Can have more variety of restaurants but getting an Uber or Lyft is super easy.
TSA pre check doesn't open until 430 AM but there are a lot of 5 AM flights. A staff member hollered at me that I would have too many bags as I pack mule for my family while my husband wrangles the little. Not the worst airport but also not my favorite by any means
While walking out of the airport to the ride app location I made momentary eye contact with an employee going in the opposite direction who then aggressively asked if I had a problem, as I ignored him and continued walking out he turned around then proceeded to follow me outside trying to intimidate with threatening profanity and instigate a physical altercation.
We arrived with a diverted international flight. Took forever to get bags, then we had to go back through TSA to continue the flight. But TSA was obviously not made aware by the airline and had no clue over 200 passengers were coming back with the same boarding passes. TSA was so full, they had to walk is to another terminal. Nightmare at PHL. Not well organized at all!
Flight at 5: 25 AM and we arrive early as you should but had to wait till 4 for baggage drop to open. Short story they had one person for the bag drop at the air line (delta). They altered the line and all the people that were there first got moved to the back. Then got to “security” which opens well after the bag drop so another line incredibly long line. They must of realized they messed up cause they just started letting people through with almost no security. All would of been solved if they had just opened earlier rather then let lines get out of hand, and try to play catch up. Nearly missed a flight due to poor logistics.
This trip was my first time in Philly and also the first time on the double decked tour bus. It is a very nice airport with a lot of restaurants, coffee, fresh fruit and much, much more.
There are 4 animal/pet relief areas but not a single playground for kids. Apparently dogs are more important than kids in this airport.
The airport is well deserving of its recent j.d. Power rating as the worst airport in the country. The terminals are dark, dank and filthy. The bathrooms never all work. The dirty food court is run by Muppets. The gate agents are rarely friendly. The security is antiquated. On and on. I fly here 10+ times per year. This is what happens when inept government actors run an airport.
