The food is fantastic. First and most importantly, the taste is delicious. And then the way they cook is very smart and adventurous. Fermented sesame paste with burnt cabbage; it is so yummy. Pasta with rabbit and chicken quail; they are all good. And pine cone for dessert, it is a delight. The music is a contemporary jazz, a perfect match for the dishes. It is highly recommended for people visiting this town.

We love to have Sunday brunches here and then go hiking in the forests around. The food and service are just great. The French toasts are to die for, but everything else is also good!

PGH is awesome! They are keeping creative and great interesting tastes alive in the state college area. Pictured: roasted trout with creamy kale and bean stew

The food is always excellent, the chef is creative and you get a good amount of delicious food for the price. Having dinner or brunch here is a delight for my partner and I. This is also a nice place to bring our out of town friends. The atmosphere is chill if you come when they're isn't an event here. The place is small but comfortable, which means they can't accommodate large parties.

Pine Grove Hall is incredible in ambiance, cuisine, cocktails and customer service. They go above and beyond to cater to any dietary restriction, as long as you can provide a few days notice ideally.

I follow the Medical Medium lifestyle and can’t have soy, corn, dairy, eggs, vinegar, gluten, processed sugar or canola oil. Not to mention being vegan. It’s tough!

Pine Grove Hall took this challenge and created one of the most delicious dishes I’ve had in my life, and one I would happily eat everyday: a roasted vegetable “eggless” frittata made from chickpea flour and olive oil, served with a salad of local greens and lemon. The chef shopped for and made my dish personally, and I’ll never forget it.

Can’t recommend Pine Grove Hall enough!

I wanted to love this. The interior and decor is beautiful, the menu looks amazing and I was ready to have a gorgeous meal.

For starters the cauliflower dip was so very good, creamy, salty with surprising bits of sour from the orange-hints of Indian spices…you want to get everything sopped up with the accompanying grilled bread.

The squash fries were good and well seasoned. I would cut them thinner and cook them more. The accompanying house ketchup was perfect and great for the fries.

We did not have any cocktails but the menu looked amazing.

The fish. Perhaps we filled up on the starters and couldn’t appreciate it.

I feel I have a pretty broad palette, I love new flavors…I understand umami and balance between sweet, sour and salty. I have eaten the unusual and I appreciate complexity.

This was too much, the fish was mushy and undercooked, the bean kale stew was delicious and smoky but not hot. The anchovies were an unusual addition. The black radish was undercooked…the pesto was grainy and salty.

I wish I lived closer to give this restaurant a second go and enjoy the music. I believe the passion is there.
