Plato's Closet Wyomissing reviews
17They have no public restroom and the changing rooms are not open half the time. The middle aged orange haired women is very very VERY slow at the cash register. Don’t bother with both buying or selling here. You could buy something there and try to resell it back the next day without them knowing you just bought it there and would be told it’s out of style lol or old lol.and for buying things there.they put the tags on in areas where it damages the clothes. The shoes are always very busted and beat up and I’ve seen some very questionable items in here. All in all there is 0 consistency here.
This past Friday I visited this location to shop for an event I had the next day. I came in around 8pm and was able to find a few items that I was looking for. I proceeded to ask for a dressing room to try on the items I had. A tall female associate told me I was unable to try on the few things I had due to the fact it was 30 mins till closing and was pretty rude about it. I’ve never heard of such a thing, especially since I only had 2 things to try on you would think it wouldn’t be an issue. I ended up leaving the items I had and left. I’m beyond disappointed that I couldn’t try on something I intended to buy because they couldn’t spare 5 minutes. This store seems to not want to bother with paying customers coming into their store. I will not be returning.
Hey everyone! I’m a new shopper at Plato’s Closet in Wyomissing. Kennedy and Amaya’s customer service was phenomenal, they helped me find cute clothes and was very polite the whole time. Next time I will be selling my clothes and when I come shopping I hope to continue to great customer service!
I've always had great experiences at Plato's closet until very recently. I was just trying to sell a few of my items that were brand new still has tags on them but we're looked at like they were rags. I was told they do not accept high heeled shoes or things with any type of Jem's or any type of embellishments on them. Clearly she wasn't looking at her own inventory because all of these things were on shelfes with tags on them waiting to be bought. The way this person acted was disgusting. Because of her actions I will no longer be shopping at this store. I will tell everyone that will listen to no go to Plato's closet in wyomissing. Horrible buying and selling experience! DO NOT GO HERE!
I typically only deal with another location to sell my things however i have tried to give this place a try multiple times. I dropped my stuff off and within less than a minute i got a text saying my stuff was ready. I had full bag current labels within there guidelines etc because of familiar with what they take. There was no way within 2 minutes she sorted through 20 items. They rush only pick what there personal preference items are. When i questions why they didn’t take certain items they couldn’t even give me an answer.
I think they cheat u on clothes sells. I brought in name brand clothes and what they wanted on the website and still cheated me
Hey all. I am a frequent shopper at Plato's I love this store. I usually have a pretty good experience in this loccasion every so often not as much just depends on who is working Tonight I came in and I always have a great experience with Amaya she is one of my favorites and I have a new favorite Kennedy they are awesome girls and they make you feel so welcome when you come to the store then make you feel like home. Thank you for always making me feel welcome and thank you for always helping me when I shop here.
They say they are hiring and never call! Never apply here! It's a waste of time! It even seems racist with people who don't know that much English, they don't give them opportunities and this is full of Hispanic people!
The people I talked to there this evening are clueless. They didn't even know what a Lee Jean was. The outlet is right down the street from them
I am over 60 and I went with 3 fully loaded baskets of clean trendy clothing that was my grand daughters stuff NOT mine. I took the clothing since she works and I had the time. The clothing was clearly NOT my style but for much younger women and was clean some even new. The staff were very young kids and after logging in with my drivers license i was given a ticket & told to wait while they reviewed the clothing. They took my baskets and i watched them lay the baskets on the floor behind the counter never touching them. I browsed the store and still no one looked in my baskets behind the counter. After only 5-8 minutes I was texted to come to the counter to complete the transaction. The kid/employee told me there was NOTHING in the 3 huge baskets that they would buy and that all was too dated. Clearly no one even looked through the baskets of my grand daughters clothing because i was older. Blatant AGE bias What a joke of a business.
They had some nice things I noticed when browsing, but I was going there to sell. Normally I go to the one in Lancaster, but was told they’re overstocked, and that I should try this location, so I drove almost an hour out of the way. I brought three laundry baskets and two big ‘trash bags’ full of clothes, purses, shoes and hats; all clean, name brand, and many pieces - not only new with tags - but brand new for the season. They only bought three things, which made me a whopping $8. I understand they have a guidebook to tell them what to look for, but I have no doubt that at least 90% of what I brought would fall under some categories in their book, as I’ve seen the same brands and styles sold there (many of which were even bought FROM there within the past couple weeks, still with the tags on, but had just gone past the return date). Not to mention, almost everything I was bringing in was plus size, from XL to 2x, and they were really lacking in plus size inventory to begin with. I honestly feel that they were just being lazy and didn’t want to take the time to look through everything, as I only saw them take about 5 articles of clothing from one basket before just putting all of my stuff back on the other side of the counter for me to collect. I love shopping at Plato’s, but selling to them is such a joke. (Pictured is the three baskets, not even including the bags full)
Brought in a pile of Hollister long sleeves and sweatshirts/ hoodies, gap v necks, American eagle sweatshirts, aerocrombie and fitch long sleeves, Aeropostale oversized tee shirts and Nike and under armor quarter zips. All items were clean and in excellent condition. Out of all those things I just listed they took the two gap v necks and the Aeropostale oversized tee shirts for $12.30. The advirtisment on your door literally said “looking for jackets and sweatshirts” it’s November and you guys took all the short sleeve summer stuff.
I brought in my clothes and the grunge girl w the nose ring at the counter laughed and spit in my face and then lit my clothes on fire
They never take your stuff. You’ll waste the time waiting only to maybe get $12 out of 1 or 2 items. An extra 10 cents if you’re lucky. It’s insane considering they are A CONSIGNMENT store. Just donate to your local shelters or have a yard sale. Also a waste of gas, don’t go here.
They did not look through all of my clothes. The things they did look at they just threw back in the box, didn’t fold it. If you’re giving me clothes back I expect them to have the same care they were given to you with. Don’t waste your time they don’t have anything good on the racks and they do not buy any in style clothes. Disappointing.
The selling experience was quick and seamless, they were willing to answer any questions. I read the reviews prior and was nervous to sell, but as someone who commonly sells my items I understand that even for name brand items I’m not going to make back much. I also found that they had a lot of great clothes and shoes for really affordable prices.
Brought in clothes I bought no less than 2 years ago and apparently they were not “current styles” but I seen almost half of my clothes already being sold there. They also offer peanuts for clothes they buy, I understand they need to make a profit but a little more than $1 a piece would be great. Some of the clothes in there look like my great grandma wore them when she was 17. Super disappointed in this place. Would never go back.
