Care of our relative seems appropriate enough. She is low maintenance as she is happy to stay in bed all the time and watch TV and never bathe.
Our concerns come with the business dealings. Unfortunately, it is our understanding that all nursing homes play similar games: This one changed her bank account twice before SS said they would prevent it with a fraud alert or block.
The POA specifically states it is effective immediately, not when she is no longer deemed competent (the way she wanted it bc she doesn't want to do anything for herself). The home business office tried to tell the Ombudsmen otherwise to justify the bank account switch.
Then tried to say family could only keep $45/month of her income to pay her bills, implying we were taking more before paying the home. NOT once did we keep more, rather we paid the difference in her cell phone bill so she could maintain that & her inadequate life insurance policy.
A special phone is available for residents' use, but does little good if it is not answered.
It is next to impossible to get someone to answer the facility phones and check on our relative. It takes numerous calls over 2 or more days to get someone. Clearly, they are short staffed like most homes.
Newly remodeled room & wing was quickly let go by lack of appropriate cleaning, but the business wing looks like a whole different facility than where the patients are.
Business office makes a habit of lying: know your rights or check with the Ombudsman!

It was less hectic. The receptionist was so sweet and helpful. I didn't fully understand having to tap the red card in the elevator before pushing my floor number. Thank goodness a staff member helped me with that. An amputee in a wheelchair (resident) was helpful as well.

Please do not take your family here. I argued for them to send my father to the hospital for his cough for 3 weeks. Finally when he went he was put right away on a vent. The doctors even said this was neglect as he had pneumonia so bad. He also had sores all over. I feel bad for the nurses that do care there as they are just so extremely overworked. This was just the last straw for us but not the only occasion that was not good. I was finally able to get my father moved. I am just praying that you do not have to go through what my father and us did. Please go anywhere else.

No-frills, but competent staff. A singalong video that my memory-support mother seemed to enjoy.

My visit was good. I was happy to see that the staff was very attentive to the person that I was visiting. And they did come and check to make sure he was okay even though I was there.

My mother has been at Pleasant Acres for about 2 months. She was having a hard time adjusting, and the staff was very patient with her. All staff that we have met have been very friendly and very helpful.

The staff here is amazing. They are very responsive and take the time to answer the many questions that I had about my brother's care. Nobody ever wants to be in a skilled nursing facility, but the staff helps you keep a positive attitude and progressing forward.
