Plunkett's Pest Control, Ellwood City PA

I am a landlord and my tenants let me know about sounds in the attic. I called Plunketts because they have over 100 years of experience and had high star reviews. I asked if it was needed to have access to the attic since I didn’t and they said it was no problem. The technician I had did not seem experienced. They take your money upfront without caring to fix the issue. The tech did not move or re-bait the traps until I had complained about it. They took traps away without fixing the issue and I am very displeased to have spent $500 for nothing.

Technician was quick, efficient, personable. I am very comfortable with service. They do a great job preventing mice from getting into my brick home, which takes an effort in itself! They also eliminated spiders and centipedes. I am most happy.

Our tech was never on time, sometimes hours late. He was on his cell phone while he was supposed to be spraying. He never sprayed up in our drop ceiling, resulting in not succeeding in ridding our house of pests. It wasn't until we did it ourselves and sprayed in the ceiling that they finally went away. A complete waste of time and money.

Positives:
My initial consultation with them was awesome. The technician was very nice, helpful, and tried to help me save money by offering plans since the services I needed cost as much as the yearly services. The technician was the primary reason I wanted a yearly plan since I was very impressed by him. So I decided to purchase a year plan where they would come four times per year. The spray and traps did seem to work very well and were as promised.

Negatives:
The issues were involving the plan. They stated that their are four visits per year with the plans. After my initial appointment, I never heard from them again. I called around the time the second visit was due (in winter). The lady I spoke with snipped at me and said that they don't do "visits" in winter because they can't spray anything around the house. These visits are just calls to see how everything is, but I never even got a phone call from them either. (I dont feel that they should promote four visits if two are just calls. Seems to be false advertising). So when spring came, I called again to get the third visit scheduled. I was told the technician will call to schedule. I never got a phone call even months after that appointment was due. So I ended up calling and canceling the plan. They only charged me for three visits, which I was fine with because I just wanted to get out of a contract with them. They told me that they will have someone come out to pick up their equipment. One year later and they still haven't even contacted me or came to pick up their supplies. It's ashame because their technicians are very good and their stuff does work. So I really wanted to like them. But I will never use them again

Update: I wanted to provide an update as I was outreached regarding my issues. The gentleman was very friendly and wanted to make an honest effort to apologize and try to correct the issue. I have a lot of respect for a company willing to acknowledge customer's issues and to address them personally like that. He also offered to collect the mouse traps that were left behind, which he did stop and get the same day.

Handled my ground bee problems and found and handled the one I wasn't aware off great guy!

The Wasps this fall are terrible and the day after I called Plunkett's Adam was at the house. Wonderful service.

Top notch service. We appreciate the reminder phone calls and I personally appreciate having a technician who goes above and beyond when inspecting our building. Along with the follow-up conversation and recommendations given. Five stars to our technician, Sam as well!

I first met our service technician, Jacob, at my place of employment. He took the time to answer some questions that I had about some home pest issues and I felt that he was very knowledgeable about his field and he shows true interest in his work and has a deep commitment to knowing his job and to providing great customer service. That initial interaction with Jacob is what prompted us to retain Plunkett's services.

Jacob serviced our house/back & front yards at the end of July 2023 and he really proved that he cares about doing his job well, especially with taking care of his customers! We had a family function that was coming up soon and we all of a sudden had a lot gnats in our yard, ugh! I called Jacob and he came right out and identified the gnats as fungus gnats. He explained that while he could spray pesticide that would more than likely kill the gnats right then and there, the proper/long-term way to combat the gnats would be to remove their "home", the fungus. He acknowledged that the fungus would not be easy to get rid of, especially in a quick manner, and he offered to come back the day before the party if my fungus efforts failed to eradicate the gnats in the short amount of time available before the party.

I was not able to get the fungus and gnats controlled by then, and Jacob came out and sprayed our property and while the gnats were still around a bit the evening he sprayed, the next day the yard was completely free of the gnats and we had an awesome time outside! Over the course of the day we had around 40 people at our house and we were outside the entire time and I swear that I don't recall seeing/swatting at one darn gnat! Talk about a true success story!

Not only is Jacob good at and knowledgeable about his job, it is his focus on doing all that he can for the customer that really shines through and for that, I can't thank him, and you as his employer, enough!

I do have direct comparisons in that we have used Terminix, then a local company, then Orkin, and then even TruGreen for pest control, and NONE of them have been anywhere near as responsive (when they actually showed up/answered the phone) as Jacob has been! The excellent communication that Jacob provides is itself worth the cost of retaining Plunkett's service, because I now know that if I need to call and speak with him, he will answer AND show up. I cannot stress enough how important that is to us, to have the peace of mind that we're not "in it alone". That may sound corny or overdramatic, but when you're dealing with pests, including the random mouse, and the possibility of ticks being in the area, and you have a young child who should be able to enjoy the outdoors, we feel that having effective pest control is paramount for not only our comfort, but literally for our safety, especially with ticks and mosquitos.
