Pomod'oro Pizza and Italian Restaurant, Downingtown PA

This restaurant has unfair business practice of charging customers more from the price listed on the menu. When called the restaurant the manager was not helpful. He said you are paying more because of the tax and then when I tried to explain we already paid for tax as a separate line item on the check, his story changed and started saying, well spice was an extra charge, our price changed from what's on the menu and on the website, etc.etc. Will never visit again.

There’s a reason the parking lot is always full here: the food and service is on point.
Around dinner time it can fill quickly so if you are impatient my advice would be to show up early.
Having said that, I walked in with a party of 9 at 5 pm on a Saturday, we waited maybe 20 min, were seated and we all ordered something different and within 30 min each of us had a delicious hot plate in front of us.
It’s worth the wait and given the quality of every meal I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying here, the prices are very reasonable.
Party of 9, appetizers, entrees and desserts and the bill averaged out to less than $30 / person and half of us left with a to go box.

Got a BBQ chicken pizza, it was alright.

The crust was both crackery on the bottom while also be gummy and undercooked at the top of the dough, leaving two distinct layers.

Could use more more sauce as well, seemed to be concentrated near the perimeter.

Our food was okay. The service was excellent. The deserts were awesome. The seating area made me feel as if I were in a cafeteria setting. Maybe I expected too much. For an Italian restaurant, I sort of expected more, like the gravy (sauce) should have been something that jumped out at you, vs being okay.

We have been to this restaurant a handful of times love it food is the best Italian! We talk it up to all of our friends but wth I just call to make a reservation for a birthday dinner and it's first come first serve but the manager I spoke with says well we made an exception for a proposal I said we came for my friends birthday and her husband had a reservation? I mean really this is not cool now I may pick a different place all together this leaves me very annoyed!

This is by far one of the best family restaurants in the area! Very C. S oriented. The food is cooked to perfection everytime! They don't charger for extra onions.the prices haven't changed nor the quantity of food like most places since pandemic. Support this family's business! Its well worth it! The food is Amazing Bravo.

If only the moz sticks were home made instead of frozen, and the garlic bread had more fresh garlic rather than garlic-butter spread, this would be the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to.
Unfortunately those are two of my favorite sides.
5 stars over-all though.

We had a wonderful lunch! Food was delicious and every person and customer was so friendly. I had shrimp scampi and hubby had chicken parmesan. I tried my first Gelato, vanilla with dark chocolate pieces that was recommended by our lovely server. It was so creamy and satisfying. Thank you, our first visit will not be our last.

Happened to be nearby for victory brewing company and thought we would try the food here since it is also byob. I thought the eggplant parmigiana was really well done. Crispy eggplant, nice melty cheese, and I could even substitute the spaghetti for their homemade angel hair pasta! They also said I could substitute the marinara sauce for the penne vodka sauce so i gave it a shot. I think I would stick with marinara next time. For the side salad they also house make all of their dressings, their Italian wasn’t too sweet and acidic! House made bread was tasty too. Pizza had a nice crust to it, though the taste wasn’t special. I personally wouldn’t get the pizza again next time.
They make their own desserts, I tried the tiramisu and it was good. The cannoli was overpriced in my opinion, taste was ok but they don’t make their own shells. Gelato samples were also good. Service was fantastic and I received good recommendations. Looking forward to coming back!

Only real Italian restaurant I’ve found in the area since moving from New York. Everything done correctly, bravo!

UPDATE - After my initial review, Pomod’oro reached out to me personally - by phone - and made up for my takeout experience. That kind of personal service is priceless and very much appreciated. So, I’m giving them a well-deserved 5 star review. Best Italian food in the area.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - I love Pomod’oros. Always a great meal. I ordered the Pasta Di Mare for take out today - always a favorite. The red sauce is amazing and did not disappoint. The only negative is that the menu advertises it as including scallop, but there was no scallop in the dish. Otherwise it was great and had they included the scallop, I would have given a 5 rating.

My husband and I dinned here for the first time. I got the chicken Pomodoro and it was absolutely delicious. My only critique would be a little less oil/butter. But the portion was huge and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. There was enough for me to have lunch the next day. I highly recommend this dish. My husband had the chicken Parm sandwich and he felt that it was a little dry but he loved the cheese and the roll. I got the tiramisu and the chocolate raspberry cake to take home. The Tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had and the chocolate cake was very good as well. I highly recommend this restaurant. I can’t wait to go back and try the lobster ravioli.

Four for dinner Thursday evening, 6/23/2022. The Chicken Pastina soup is always a great selection, and tonight was no different! Such a wonderful broth! It’s the star of the soup!
Eggplant Parm sandwich, chicken and a white pizza. Everyone there were very happy with the atmosphere (well there is a flickering bulb back in the room), the service Superb and food quality is the best in the county!

Will be going back again and again. I intentionally ask for my food to be prepared a specific way on BOOM right on point. Dominick our server was great. Attentive even with a packed restaurant still had time to work with us.
