Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar Oakland, Pittsburgh PA

I've visited this primanti's a few times after work and I can say with confidence that it's on par with the strip district and market square locations. I never go when it's crazy busy so I'm always served relatively quickly.
Capicola and cheese is the best thing to get btw

My son asked that I stop here for lunch today and I was not impressed. I ordered the Sirloin steak and cheese sandwhich and the bread was dry and the steak had no seasoning whatsoever. I called the waiter over to tell him I wanted something different because the steak had no flavor and he says “it comes like that”. I asked if they just slap the meat on the grill without adding seasoning and he looked at me like I had two heads. I then asked for Garlic parm wings because who can mess up wings right? Well the wings come out and they’re fried well just like how I like them but when I take the 1st bite, I notice there is no flavor to the chicken and the batter tastes like old oil. I could only taste a slight pinch of the garlic parm. Only ate two wings because I just couldn’t eat meat with no flavor and old oil. I wondered if it was me because how is it that two entrees have no season? I wondered if I had Covid and my taste buds were shot so I did a home Covid test which came back negative. It’s obvious that this place, after looking at some of the reviews, has a tendency of delivering food with no flavor. I don’t get the hype of this restaurant but definitely one that I was extremely disappointed in. I ended up tossing the wings in the garbage

A cool Pittsburgh restaurant, I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting. There are several locations, I visited the Forbes Ave location. It was small and cute, had a real cozy vibe. It had an upper mezanine with seating that overlooked the lower level. Definitely will be returning.

Had the fish. I think they are using a cheaper fish patty. The coleslaw makes that sandwich. First 3 bites are great.goes down from there, but I finished it.

It's a Primanti's. If you're from the burgh then you know what to expect. If you're visiting the city then it's one of the things you must do. This location is not as good as the one in the strip district or downtown. Mainly manned by college students. The service is okay at best. Do not visit during rush hour, it gets really crowded.

No frills, just function. Primanti Bros gives you just what you need when you waddle in the door looking to lose some waste. Just like their sandwiches, they put in everything you need in one package and let the product do the talking. Extra toilet paper on top of a double bath tissue dispenser, air fresheners, soap AND hand sanitizer, all part of this well thought out, throw everything at the wall approach.

Urinal and toilet side by side? ! We Absolutely Love it. Options are my middle name. This may not be an accident when you're in the middle of the University of Pittsburgh's campus. Lifelong friendships are made in bathrooms like this.

It is definitely not the most tidy, but for late night on a Saturday standard expectations are thrown right out the window. The staff can only so much against the will of a tipsy college student who can barely find their tip. Although they leave a little to be desired in the aesthetics and style department it is hard to find too many complaints. A bathroom that embodies the hard working and get-er-done attitude of Pittsburgh isn't easy to find and Primanti Brothers manages to nail it.

Packed house on the night I went, but even with that, the service was excellent. Quick and attentive. Delicious food and beer as always. Very impressed

Some 13 yr old kid in Vegas told me about this place in 2008 when I asked him what's the best sandwich in Philly was. I don't remember if it's pats or genos but he said if i ever make it to this town to try Primanti Bros. Years later, I make it to the burgh' and wherever that kid is now, thank you Austin. Man were you right.

The pics don't do these things justice. As far as food goes, these things are a must-see like a Mt Rushmore or Disney World.

Planning on a return visit in February.

It seems like I find a Primanti Brothers everywhere I turned baby just got her braces out you know I had to go down that street and find a Primanti Brothers they were open they had dewars the beer was cold and a sandwich had double meat double eggs don't be scared go for it every time I get a chance have fun stay safe!

A Pittsburgh classic. Great service, great food, great drinks. Staff was friendly and made good rounds, enough where you were still being taken care of, but not enough where it was suffocating.

Service was very slow. We had to look for the server multiple times. Definitely under staffed. The food was good.

Only 3 people working during lunch rush. Now at 50 minute wait for my online order. At $10 a sandwich if you cant afford to staff your store you cant afford to have me as a customer.

Edit: Ended up leaving without my sandwich and going somewhere else instead. It's a shame, I planned on spending my 21st birthday here and have been going here almost weekly. But if you cant serve your customers when the store is busy, then you send a very clear message - "we dont care about your experience inside our restaurant".
Now I have to find a new restaurant to serve as my go-to place for a sandwich.

Went there and got their #2 best seller. It tastes nice. American ambassador who interviewed me for my visa recommended this place. Honestly i dont find it so special. Its really nice to hangout and get the Pittsburgh vibe but in terms of food, ill say its just good. I recommend asking the waiter what their #1 best seller is.

Just tried the Pittburger, supposedly the bestseller#2, …I was looking forward to tasting one of the recommended things to try in Pittsburgh and got hugely disappointed.
Absolutely nothing in that sandwich was right. For someone who has functioning tastebuds this won’t make the cut.
The patty was made out of processed meat, the fries were not properly cooked and soggy, there was no sauce and so no flavour to that sandwich!

Maybe you need to have had a pitcher or two to convince yourself that this is tasty; but if you’re into food, don’t waste your money and time on that.

The sandwiches lack flavour for somebody who has a palette for spiced up food. Meat was good quality. Food was cleanly made.

It's Primanti Bros, nothing else to say. Sandwiches are exactly as advertised (good but personally not my favorite) and service + ambiance is solid. Pricing is also very good for quantity especially for the sandwiches.

Tasty food, large portions and quick service. Healthy options are limited to a few salads. Sandwiches are high in calories and not the healthiest options. Located right near a beautiful park. Good opportunity for picnic.

We ordered & 2 mins later the friendly waitress had a tray with our order. It was good the ordered #2 the Pitts burgher

Came to Pittsburg for an event, and we had a few hours to kill before the event started. My boyfriend and I were excited to try an authentic Pittsburg Primanti bros, so we found one near the event center. We were asked to seat ourselves and then we were ignored for about 20min. I tried to be as patient as possible because the restaurant was busy, but I did end up having to wave someone over. We were finally able to order and we got our food and drinks within reasonable time. About a half an hour after finishing my drink, I flagged down a waitress and told her no one had been back to us and she told us we had been forgotten about due to shift change. I was annoyed but understanding, these things happen, it was busy after all. Then we were promptly forgotten about again. I had to wave a waiter down for another drink. A while later we ran out of time and after several attempts to catch the waitresses eye, I had to just go up to the front and ask for my check. I would say the service was terrible but for me it was nonexistent. It was a very disappointing experience.

It's a great location if you want the busy bar environment. The sandwiches are loved by many but for those of you who don't like them, there are a few other options. Not a trendy bar so the beer options are limited.
