Employees were friendly and cared, although understaffed. Waited 50 minutes for a small Sharp Italian and a huge Old World Meatball. Nothing else. Went to grab it at pick up station after waiting a horrendous amount of time at lunchtime (again, 50+ minutes before my meatball was ready) and my small Italian wasn’t there and given to somebody else. Took another 5+ minutes and staff asking 3 more times my name and what it was. When I opened the paper to eat it when I got to my destination and being late back from lunch for the others I got the huge meatball sandwich for, it looked like it came from the garbage the way the Italian was thrown together and was the smallest thing I’ve ever seen. Definitely not the size and quality I’m used to after eating at Primos for decades. I’m very disappointed.
I’m from South Jersey and this has been my favorite hoagie shop when it was mom and pop owned for decades. I won’t be back to this location again. I’ve ordered sandwich trays multiple times from the McMurray and Smallman St street stores and they have been prompt and great every time. I paid over $40 for 2 sandwiches yesterday plus tipping on top of that and no care was taken with my order yesterday. 1 hour to make sandwiches at lunch is absurd. Who has that kind of time? What a rip off. You can’t charge these kind of prices for subpar food, outrageously long food prep wait times, and slow untrained staff with no urgency and no management. The owner should be ashamed. You’re ripping hardworking paying customers off.

I have ordered the vegetable (eggplant) hoagie twice. The first time it was extremely good. The second time, it was ice cold and visually, resembled a long, black, two-diameter worm in a hoagie bun. It was edible, but visually? Well, you decide since it's close to Halloween. (I sense a disgruntled employee mutiny.)

Service was good and atmosphere is casual. I am not a sports tv person in general, though I will watch equestrian sports and Notre Dame football.

Update 10/13/23: Reply to PrimoHoagies. I prefer not to complete the contact form in the url that was provided in the response to my review. My thought is that the employee who prepared my vegetarian hoagie may have been a recent hire and not up to speed on how to prepare that particular item.

I can't believe you charge these prices for the tiniest if hoagie I've ever had! Manager was rude!

There is something so addictive about these. They're amazing! My favorite are the spicy Diablo ones.

“Cheesesteak” was overcooked meat and cheese on a dry bun. Nothing else. Real disappointment.

Absolutely overpriced and terrible quality. The star is just color staff’s friendliness. Supposed to have cappicolla and salami… more like chipped ham…. Smallest hoagie I have ever bought for 13 dollars

I ate at the strip district location and was really unimpressed but this one is so much better. The bread here is fresher and they usually have all the sides in stock.

This is by far the best hoagie and closest to Philly hoagies I’ve had since I’ve been in Pittsburgh. You guys are awesome. Thank you.

Great product and employees - you pay a bit more here but you get what you pay for in quality and it's well worth the price. I love this place.

I have gone here twice. I have been going to other franchises for years, and I really enjoy their hoagies. The first time I went, the meat was not even and not enough oil for me. Too dry of a hoagie. The second time I went, I asked for extra oil. The meat was even, but again, the hoagie is still to dry even when asking for extra oil. I still recommend them and will go back because their hoagies are delicious.

Primo is great! I've missed them terribly since moving here from Philly. The hoagies are pricey, but you pay for quality, which is what your getting here. The bread stands up to the ingredients, which is more than can be said about most sammies in Pittsburgh (if you're gonna build a house, you should put it on a good foundation). The meats and accoutrements are sliced super thin and melt in your mouth. Excellent meat/cheese/bread ratio.

It's about time Pittsburgh got a decent hoagie.

We stopped in today to try it out and the hoagies were fantastic! I honestly haven't had anything that good since I lived in Philly. The staff was also very friendly. My only issue is that we asked for 2 cups of water and were told they don't have any. What kind of dine in restaurant doesn't give out water? I looked in the case and there were also no bottles for sale. I'm pretty sure that providing water is a health dept requirement. If it wasn't for that, I would have gave 5 stars for sure.

No problem with the quality of the food or taste but if I' going to pay $28 for a 22-24 inch hoagie I expect at least the lowest number. 20 in. Hoagies won't cut it. They need to pay a visit to their bread supplier. Based on promos pricing a 4 in. Hoagie would cost almost $6.99. We are paying for that.

Listen food is outstanding but the price is outrageous for a sub but it is quality but I hesitate to go because it shouldn’t be 20 for a 10 inch sub chips and a drink sorry

Well I had a problem with my order and was given 2 sandwiches I did not ask for spoke with the manager and I stopped in yesterday and they kept their word and replaced both sandwiches and made it right so they earned those 5 stars. Again been there 4or5 times now and they are constantly putting out a great product and stand by their products. So if you see the video of the 2 mistake Hoagies they totally stood by their word and replaced them and were very kind to me as well will continue to order from Primo's Pleasant hills.
