Bar Prohibition Taproom reviews
17We spent a weekend in the city for concerts at The Met and kept coming back to Pro Tap! The bartenders were awesome, attentive and a lot of fun! The food was dynamite - the Red Lentil Falafel Platter was incredible, as were the burgers, fries and tempura green beans! We had a great time and kept checking back in!
Little spot that you might not even notice riding by. Super busy but the turnover was quick our wait was about 40 minutes. We sat at the bar for dinner. The bartender was super helpful with recommendations and very attentive for how busy he was. The food was delicious and the drinks were fantastic. It will definitely be a regular spot.
Went looking for a place to eat on a busy Saturday and found this place. Busy, but room at the bar. Very friendly bartenders, excellent beer selection - including Cask and nitro options! - and the salad was fantastic. All arugula, no iceberg lettuce to be seen. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Philly.
Last night in particular we were disappointed by the bartenders. They were extremely rude and passive aggressive. We ordered a drink that they weren’t familiar with and then continued to mock us amongst each other. Other than that, this spot has an awesome vibe. We love coming for a nightcap after a show at Union Transfer.
Protap burger was delicious bread perfectly toasted bun, burger meat had lots of flavor. The salad was alright would probably go for fries next time.
Also tried popcorn chicken. Which was just fried pieces of chicken a good sauce came with it but nothing too spectacular.
The brown derby was recommended and it was good drink.
Staff was friendly on a busy night and they made sure everyone was good perfect service.
Service was good, fair drink selection, I wasn't fond of the burger I got, but I will give it another try. It was very very busy, has a spacious bar, but more restaurant than bar.
Nice, chill vibe. I've been here several times and always had excellent service. Their food is great, I love their cheesesteaks, fries and tots! Their drinks are fair priced, cocktails are excellent, and the staff is friendly. Good stuff
Great spot for a beer and a bite to eat. Parking lots are very close. And you can walk to alot of music venues from there.
I went here for happy hour yesterday and the food was AMAZING! Service was even better. I am gluten intolerant with a nut allergy and our server was so so so educated on this topic and was so quick to answer my questions.it’s nice to go out to eat and not feel like a burden.so many of us with food allergies and intolerances feel this way, but I didn’t feel that way here. The popcorn chicken melted in your mouth and the fries were great. The drinks, while they were a little sweet, were great too! Don’t skip over this place!
Was told that bar seats were at a premium and not allowed to sit there. Sat at a table and watched several people just walk in and sit at the bar.
Mac and cheese w/ chicken $15 +$4 was really good, chicken was soft, portion was good. Fries that it came with were abundant as well.
The pro tap burger $17 was good as well pretty meaty and I would say medium cooked not well done. Came with a salad.
Popcorn chicken $10 was good as well, on the other side it came with fries that were WAY too salty. So it was inconsistent.
Piece sour drink $12 was good as well, brown derby $11 was really good.
I would just say the seating wasn’t the most comfortable and they allowed the other table to have a chair at the end but wouldn’t let us have a chair at the end, supposedly blocking the door. We had 5 in our party.
Parking is troublesome, place attracted pretty 30s age ppl, mostly calm, not a frat like bar. Chill to watch game.
The atmosphere, the music, the people, the beer, THE FOOD. That place is the best, dim lit and perfect for a night out with friends, or a date. It has become our favorite after work place to hangout
Great little dive bar with 100% gluten free fryers! A celiac must. Great service, great staff, good food, cheap prices, strong drinks
There is daily happy hour from 4 to 7pm. The hibiscus tea cocktail is refreshing and delicious. I love the use of decomposible straws, not the paper ones that melt but the good ones that don't melt but still kinda good for the sea turtles! The plate is not cute but the food is absolutely delicious. The tempura green beans were so addictive! Little did we expect that to be any good. It was crunchy on the outside and softer on inside. We were seated outside and unfortunately got multiple bites by mosquitoes so beware! Not the restaurant fault - we should have known. Serving size were very generous and honestly great stop for a quick bar stop with friends.
Didn’t have food, but drinks were great and staff was very friendly. Would come back for sure.
If you are looking for gluten free food in Philly - make sure you get here. Most apps we're gluten free (popcorn chicken and tater tots with dipping sauce), and they have a wide selection of ciders and cocktails. But specifically, make sure you get there on a Wednesday night when they are making their gluten free fried chicken plate. It did not disappoint and may have been the best fried chicken I've ever had! Great outdoor seating as well.
One of Philly's best neighborhood bars. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious (with some vegan friendly options too), and their drinks are amazing
