As far as state campgrounds go, this is definitely on the lower end of them. They do get a LOT of credit for the friendliness of the people, both staff and wardens, working the grounds (and truly they are some of the nicest people I have met at campgrounds), but that just cannot make up for the rough facilities and general experience.

Speaking of facilities, if 70's-meets-prison is your general motif, you will love their bathrooms. They are quite literally falling apart, be it broken showers, holes in the wall, or backed up sewage. The bathrooms all need to be bulldozed and rebuilt from the ground up, and they are the worst I've ever seen in a state park. 75% of the fire rings are in bad disrepair (one was even at a 45 degree angle), many of the tent sites are nowhere near level enough to service an actual tent (the term "tent pad" listed online is just a joke), and the state of the sites themselves ranges somewhere from built-for-only-RVs to flooded-out-mudhole.

Even with that said, noise is by far the worst element in the campground. First, it is located DIRECTLY beneath the landing pattern for Pittsburgh International Airport, which means you get extremely low-flying planes 18 hours a day every 5-10 minutes. Still, I can't fault the campground too much for that; I'm sure they were here long before the pattern was changed and didn't have a choice in the matter. It might detract more if they weren't being drowned out by the insane level of partying and noise from inconsiderate campers on-grounds anyway. I have tried staying a few times and never had a weekend where loud music and partying wasn't heard until the early AM hours. And the wardens are clearly seen patrolling in their vehicles regularly, so they have to simply not care. This is a drunken partying campground, plain and simple (and yes, that's even with alcohol being "not allowed"). If that's your thing, you'll love it here. If it's not, just drive farther to a better state campground. You'll thank me at about 2 AM.

This is my second time here. My family and I like it very much. The kids take their bikes and go at it as the roads are paved. The raccoons are friendly too hahahaha

Beautiful state park, clean campground, nice fellow campers. Bath house has a lot of spider webs and needs a little TLC, but otherwise was an overall enjoyable experience for never been camping in a state park until now.

Love going here, great area, and most of the amenities you'd need are not to far. Only complaint the photos of the campsites can be misleading. Some are on a steep grade. And not accessible if you drive a car. If your in a suv or truck your probably fine. But the further back campsites would say are definitely not car friendly

We reserved the RV site A12 to set up our tent! The campground had a good distance with other sites. The restroom and shower were not great, but they were okay.

One of the best spots within an hour of Pittsburgh! Campsites, beach, boat rentals, trails… perfect spot for a weekend getaway!

Fairly good place to go tent camping. Only thing that was somewhat challenging was finding a flat spot to pitch a tent that wasn't the parking spot.

Nice place to hike. The bathrooms were a bit but outdated but certainly clean. Sites were nice and beautiful.

We stayed there after a concert and the camping was great. The site we had was kind of secluded. Surprisingly after a concert, the camp ground remained quiet lol. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the staff at the booth was very friendly and helpful! I would definitely stay here again!

I loved the campground but their facilities, not so much, they are outdated, dirty and some showers don't even work.

Stayed at a site that was dog friendly. It was clean and quiet. It was a great experience.

Park employees were friendly and helpful. We got the feeling they were always available if needed and they made periodic trips around park in case we needed them.

Many campsites, a variety. A few of the electric sites are larger and designed for trailers, but the majority we saw driving around are not level, and really only suited for tents.
