Ravensburg State Park reviews
17Mike, the park ranger, was so helpful! And friendly. We were struggling trying to find a camp spot but he really helped us and even stopped in the park to check on things! Perfect primitive camping spot.
Its a small campground. Its beautiful and peaceful. I camped for 2 weeks and did see many people. My only complaint is its located right next to a road, you do hear trucks driving by some with load brakes. It is a nice place.
Awesome place for family fun. Very beautiful park to enjoy.
Still beautiful after all these years.
Great small park. We enjoy coming here to just hangout by small mountain stream and going for hikes. Haven't camped here yet though.
Great little place to camp hike or just relax. The road is close to the grounds although not a deal breaker. Plenty of firewood to pick nice bathrooms and a cool ranger. Only suggestion would be to put up a public power outlet to charge things aside from that great place
A beautiful, small park nestled in the mountain's shadow. It's a rugged, lush area with some steep trails. There is a nice pond at the park's southern limits. Rauchtown Rd.or SR 880 is the only access to the park and it is a bit hard to find due to it's small size and limited signage. Once you find the park you can see that it's well maintained and clean. Great for a picnic or day trip for families. The park would be much cooler on a hot summer's day and a place that I would head for a lot if I lived in the area.
This park is beautiful, but hard to find. The state really needs to put up more signs. Anyway it was worth the drive.
If you are studying bryology, this is your laboratory. Look at all the moss on the rocks in the pictures I've posted.
The park is just off rt 880 and has a roadside picnic pavilion and scattered tables. However, it's got more than other roadside state parks.
There's a tent only camping area to one side just a little to close to the road for my taste.
There's a ballfield and the nearby Rauchtown Creek with a little dam.
A trail leads to the Castle Rocks, and the thousand steps trail that intersects the mid-state trail.
A pleasant place for an afternoon picnic and maybe a field game or hike.
Great natural area for walking or playing in the creek. Decent picnic and bathroom facilities. (Not many hiking trails, and no playground, just FYI.) There is also camping available, with a shower house and flush toilets (no electricity at camp sites).
The overnight camping fee is way too high for a simple tent campsite. It is beautiful there and well taken care of.but at the cost of a hotel room, just not worth the price.
Small, beautiful park with trails, pavilions, bathrooms, and a water feature. Also features a really cool rock formation (Castle Rocks) and a campground for tenters. Great place to spend the day or night!
This is a great park, small but spacious. Come here to clear your mind and receive some silence from the city.
We saw a few horse buggies too!
Ravensburg is a fabulous park to get in touch with nature. There was a recent wind storm so, some of the trails are blocked but that makes for a great obstacle course!
Beautiful, quaint getaway in central PA. Loved the camping site offerings. It's very well kept and staffed by friendly, helpful rangers. The upkeep is outstanding. Definitely have to hand it to the folks who keep it clean.
Campers are generally friendly and respectful - this is a fantastic, perfectly balanced area of being close enough to a town and being isolated enough for a exceptional experience.
A very welcoming state park! Nice composting bathroom facilities, The pavilions and fireplaces are well kept, and there is ample parking. Lots of great places for children to play and explore.
Beautiful, 78 acre state park that is surrounded by state forest land. There are many recreational activities to be found while visiting this state park. A nice spot to have a picnic or a larger family outing at a pavilion and take use of the play field area. There is good trout fishing in the stream when weather permits. A tent only seasonal campground with nice restroom and shower facilities can be found at the northern end of the park. The Mid State trail and several other trails start or traverse the park as well. All in all a wonderful place to spend time in the outdoors!
