Residence Inn by Marriott Harrisburg Carlisle

We decided to stay at this hotel because we had a great experience last year. We were disappointed that there were dishes in the dishwasher that weren’t clean. It smelled awful when we opened the dishwasher like it’s been in there for days. The shower had no shower curtain and only had glass on one side. It was beautiful but not practical. We had to place towels on the floor because the water was coming out while taking a shower.

When we arrived in our room, it immediately smelled like smoke, and the front desk staff member agreed it smelled bad. They spent a day and a half looking for febreeze or another air spray, and they found something eventually, but it didn't take care of the smell really.

Also, the sheets had dried blood, and they brought us new sheets, which also had stains on them.

We had a two-bedroom suite, and one of the bathrooms' toilets wasn't working properly. We had to wait until the next morning for the maintenance man to plunge it, which didn't do the trick, so he came back to snake the toilet, which worked.

All-in-all, the staff seemed very helpful and accommodating, and were willing to go an extra mile. However, every issue took a long time to resolve, and when you need a working toilet, waiting 12 hours isn't satisfactory.

I have stayed here several times, but last night when I stayed here I had a bad experience. Our room was 77 degrees, as hot as it was outside. When I brought it to the front desk manager he checked it out and said it is doing what it is supposed to, it’s just really hot outside. Mind you the rest of the hotel was nice and cool, didn’t feel like a sauna.
We were sweating in our sleep! When we all woke up we went to the front desk and mentioned it to the front desk associate. She walked to our room and immediately agreed that our room was hot and uncomfortable. She brought us a floor van.
After speaking with her manager they offered points, but not enough for the cost of the 2 bedroom suite. I will be calling and speaking to the general manager until this issue gets addressed.

Great staff. Very friendly, personable, and helpful. Rooms are always clean. The manager Christian is very kind and accommodating. The courtyard is very nice as well. The pool looks clean (never been in it), the also have a fitness area, and basketball court. They have washers and dryers for guest use as well.
