2004 our father passed away and services were through Mr. Smith. He was a bit taken back when I showed up 1 wk after services to pay the bill. Great service! September 2015 we lost our mother and dealt with Bryan Kenworty at Smith Funeral Home. What a poor service! Kenworty's primary focus was MONEY! The prices of of the things he tried to sell us was outrageous, the obituary cards we ordered were not ordered and not available for friends and family, the music we were told would be played did not play, Very disappointing. My sister was the first one in the funeral home and was met by Kenworthy and taken to a back room so she could fill out a check to pay for the service. The great thing was: we were not emotionally upset when decisions were made and we did not get talked into buying stuff we did not need or want. If you deal with Kenworty, please send some one who is not emotional! Mr. Smith will be missed and we will not use or recommend Bitner Family Funeral Home.

One issue that can and does affect arranging funeral services is the cost factor involved. We offer a variety of service and merchandise options from which you can select that will satisfy your needs and stay within your budget. Our first concern is to provide a dignified and meaningful service despite the cost. While we are not the least expensive funeral home in the area, we are far from the most expensive. In response to the follow-up surveys we conduct, most families have indicated that they feel our charges are very reasonable for the quality of service that they have received.
We, as with most every other business and professional service provider, have found it necessary to establish a uniform payment policy to serve all families fairly and to prevent misunderstanding. This payment policy enables us to contain our costs to all the families we serve. Our goal is to provide service to every family that calls upon us. For us to do so on an ongoing basis, payment arrangements need to be completed prior to the services. Because of more and more bad debt, we were forced to implement this policy. We feel that it's just not fair to raise prices to the people who do pay because of the ones who don't. This is one of the biggest reasons why we stress Pre-Planning - so these details can be dealt with far ahead of the actual need.
It is not our desire to turn any one away because of limited finances or an inability to pay. In such circumstances, we offer services and merchandise tailored to the funds a family has available to cover the expenses. We have established these policies in order for us to meet the needs of every family's unique situation while still insuring that Hetrick-Bitner, Geigle & Smith Funeral Homes will continue to be able to serve the community in the years to come.
