Salon L Manayunk, Philadelphia PA

My experience at this salon was EXCELLENT. They are very welcoming and friendly, and they even offer you tea or coffee while you get your hair done. I went as part of a wedding party, and the person who did my hair (Ryan) was outstanding. He captured exactly what I wanted, and was so fun and enjoyable to talk to. My up-do stayed in place for hours of dancing and photographs. I highly recommend this place!

Just moved to manayunk and decided to give this place a try. I was excited because it looked nice and had great comments online. Everybody was very nice and we loved the tall Great Dane dog one of the ladies got there. The environment was nice and fashionable. Our hair stylist was nice but not very professional. She was nice and gentle but she first of all, failed to recommend anything. We wanted someone to recommend a type of color and haircut but she just seemed to not really care. She just asked us what we want which is good but we kept telling her we wanted advice and recommendation. At the end, we just explained what we wanted, and the end result was really disappointing. First, we were going for color and haircut. We decided to add some highlights after talking with her but she didn’t tell us it was additional 30 dollars. The colors were 80 which the rep before had told us it was 55 but because it was all the way the price was 80. Well that’s fine but we would really appreciate it if we had knew everything at first esp adding the highlights was another 30 because it was like 2 strips of hair in the fromt only! In the end, I could barely see them like it was never done. The other reason why I really rated 3 stars was because she rushed us at the end! I was never rushed before at any hair salon. She was more worried about her other client waiting which was fine but since you took us, you have to finish with us first! It’s not our fault that your client is waiting for you. We paid 160 for all this. The hair looked horrific in the end. We hated it. Never had we been this disappointed and frustrated after getting hair done. It should be relaxing and exciting to visit the hair salon. We paid 160 and tipped her 20. So in total we spent 180 for an ugly hair color, barely noticeable let alone pretty highlights, and the worst haircut ever. Lauren seemed to be a nice girl but she was not the most professional and honestly her skills are no match to the other hair stylists we’ve had in the past at other salons. This was like the best, top-rated one in manayunk so we had high expectations. Nice people and they have their own parking lot.

I was very happy with my first visit and tremendously disappointed with my follow up visit.

After getting the initial treatment that i wanted, I was told I had to come back to refresh the color and brighten it up a little more. I was excited to get the final results but I was not looking forward to paying another 350$ like I paid the first time. The lady that did my hair told me that would not be the case because I did not need a cut or anything outside of the color refresher.

So when I went to my follow up appointment six weeks later I was seen by a different person than the first time. The girl that did my hair the last time had quit in the meantime. (Bummer)

So he went on and dyed my hair according to the description I gave him and the result was well done and I was happy with it, but when I got to the register they asked for a stunning 260$. I didn’t understand and asked why so much and the answer was because “he had to use more dye because of the length of my hair”. That sounded odd to me because a balayage started at 125$ their website said. I could not believe that he had to use more than double of the average amount for my hair that was a little bit longer than my shoulders at the time.

Because I didn’t want to cause a big fuss and I was happy with the result I paid the amount.

A few weeks later I received a call from Salon L with the request to schedule a new maintenance appointment. I explained to the lady on the phone that it was simply too much and that I can not spend 250-300$ on hair every 6 weeks (without tip!)
She then informed me that it wouldn’t be that much and when I pointed out that I repeatedly paid the same amount for less treatment she told me that I was charged on my second visit with the same treatment as I did the first time. I then explained to her that the second time I did not receive a haircut or extravagant mask. Just some more highlights to freshen up the color.

She apologized for the mistake on their end and asked if i wanted to proceed with the appointment. I told her that I was not happy about losing that much money and when she told me: sorry, nothing I can do about it now.
I knew I was never going back to that money ripping off place!

I always leave with amazing hair. Salon L is elegant and relaxed. The staff is super friendly and very talented. I've been seeing Jackie for several years and consistently leave with hair that even strangers compliment me on! I go for color, cut, highlights regularly and for brows and lashes as well.

Luanna did my highlights and she did a terrific job and was so sweet. Definitely a great experience and the salon is lovely.

Super trendy place in the heart of Manayunk. Mike and staff are super professional and very skilled.

I went to Salon L for the first time this past weekend and had a great experience! Everyone was helpful, everyone moved quickly, and Kadi did a fantastic job with my cut and color. I have found my new salon!

Awesome salon! Got my hair done there for my wedding. My bridal party loved their hair and make-up. Everyone looked great. I travel almost an hour to get my hair cut and colored at Salon L-Manayunk.

I loved how nice and big the place is, great service and they are open 7 days a week. Jackie did my hair and although the next day it was freezy, somehow 3 days later it looked good. I have thick long hair so finding a good hairstylist isn't always easy and this place is definitely an option to consider.
