Pan-Asian Restaurant Sampan reviews
19Went here on 2 occasions and both times were great. The drinks were flowing for sure, I definitely recommend the Thai Punch. This place offers small plates, and for someone who’s had bariatric surgery this place great. Service was fantastic and fast, will be coming back here soon for sure.
As an Asian and Korean, I thought this restaurant was a fusion restaurant to me. Because all the food was salty and strong in taste. It wasn’t familiar to me at all. Especially the dumplings with the soup we ordered came out bursting. It was just dumpling without any soup.
This place was very crowded and really busy. All the seats were so close to the person next to me that we could even have a conversation… What I liked the most was their setup and atmosphere! But that’s it:)
Great atmosphere, friendly people and tasty food. Loved everything about this place. The bao buns, soup dumplings and wings are a must try!
Love everything about this. Good, drinks, ambience. The chefs special where you pay $45 per person is worth it. A must!
The food here is absolutely excellent and the happy hour prices are outstanding. Highly recommend- some of the best Asian fusion I’ve ever had

Great Happy Hour Menu. Employees catered to Veg options very well.
Must Try:
-Tofu Taco
-Edamame Dumpling (broth is not vegetarian. They will give you just the dumplings)
-Crispy Brussel Sprouts
I was so excited to visit Sampan as it was my first time at the restaurant. My reservation was at 7pm. Although, I arrived at 7: 30pm. I notified the host of my attempts to inform the restaurant I would be running late. Unfortunately, my attempted phone calls went unanswered. The host suggested for my sorority sister and I to wait an additional 45 minutes. After waiting, we were finally seated. We placed our order and waited approximately 45 minutes for our food. Our small plates arrived at the same time as our meals. I ordered the salmon santay and fried rice. My salmon santay arrived first. I waited an additional 30 minutes for my fried rice and while doing so my salmon santay became cold. I notified the host, and she stated “our kitchen is a flow kitchen” suggesting she would not reheat my salmon santay. When my fried rice arrived the poached egg was placed on top dispute me asking for it to be removed.i wanted an additional 25 minutes for a new order.
This was the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in the center city area thus far.
Great food. Great service. The Korean BBQ beef was incredible as was the Wagyu beef. My wife and I tried several dishes and loved all of them. Must try the Peanut butter ice cream roll.
Happy hour here is truly a delight. There are so many great options here: the kimchi fried rice and pork bao are must-have choices.
This is the best food I've ever had. It's all cooked to perfection and the flavors are mouth watering. Our server was amazing. You can tell he loves his job, and he does it well. I recommend the peanut butter sushi ice cream. The pastry chef is beyond talented. Fantastic place that we'll be going back to for date night.
This was disappointing! We usually love this place but it's been such a mess. I understand a staff shortage but the staff they had were bad. We can excuse forgotten orders but the food runners were INEXCUSABLE. They delivered our food to the table next to us and when we pointed it out tried to give us the food that the other table had already touched, during a pandemic. When we pointed out we didn't want food others had touched, we watched him "take it back", wait a few seconds, and then bring us the same food pretending it was new. Ridiculous!
We had a large company event at Sampan last week and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. They were very patient and helpful in working with us on food and beverage selections in advance. The food, cocktails and service were all exceptional. I can't say enough good things about our servers.
There were 19 of us and the food and drinks never missed a beat. I was a little nervous about small plates - but Sampan made a convert out of me. The food was a surprisingly great departure from our normal red meat and cheesecake fare. I can't recommend Sampan enough. Thank you for a hosting a great dining experience!
The Graffiti Bar was too packed when we arrived, so we decided to try Sampan instead. The drinks were AMAZING and the soup dumplings were so good. The bartender heard it was my birthday, so she surprised me with a cute birthday ice cream dish! Highly recommend this place.
Sampan never disappoints. We loved almost everything we got, next time we might skip the roast Broccoli, but the brussel sprouts were fantastic. The edamame Dumplings and Kung Pao wings were to die for, and the Wagyu beef Satay is not to be missed!
Me and my family came here because it looked nice and had a good review. The waitress explained the food and it sounded amazing… until we got the food. The food tasted horrendous. I tried giving it a chance and took another bite but it made me want to throw up. When I complained about it to the waitress, they sent a manager out instead who was extremely rude and gave us the check and told us to pay and leave. We paid $200 for food we didn’t finish or enjoy. Terrible place. Never coming here again and I recommend others not come here either.
This is a great restaurant to grab a bite for lunch or even go to have a nice dinner they have a pretty extensive but not overwhelming menu and the people there are great as well. I hate Center City for the most part because of parking but this restaurant has parking very close to the location
Ugh, delicious.decadent.amazing.we got the pork bao and it literally melts in your mouth.we got a few plates and shared amongst ourselves but the bao stood out the most to me and was my favorite.service is really good too!
Great food, great atmosphere and great hangout place with friends. We had the Chef's menu and compared to other foodie fusion places, it was less pricy but at par or better in terms of quality. The roast duck was so tender; the wagyu beef was so juicy and the seabass was so perfectly cooked. Lo mien had a spicy kick to it; and the calamari was nicely matched with a simple salad that mingled naturally the sweet, sour and spicy taste buds. Two thumbs up!
Amazing date spot! I've taken a few women out here. Sadly, I am no longer dating any of these women, but it isn't the fault of Sampan! Sampan had great service and food. I would highly recommend this place for a date, or even if you are down in the dumps and need a quick drink and dumpling.
