Sango Kura reviews
18I'm 53 years old, been around. This place has the best of everything: atmosphere, handmade cuisine cooked up by a knowledgeable Japanaphile, there's a small arcade with top choice games, (tron, joust, mortal combat.). House made everything. (Noodles, in house beer, and Sake.). Did it mention Sake? , fresh Sake with brewers active yeast negori style.best I've had in America! Thank you!
Was in the area and figured to try this place out. The hostess and waitress were friendly. We had the tan tan and tonkotsu ramen. The pork in my ramen was juicy, flavorful, bringing out the flavor of the broth and there was such a good portion of pork as well because some places like to be stingy with meats. Also the karaage chicken was ON POINT and super delicious with whatever the sauce it came with Fresh, perfect crunch and texture. I would eat here again whenever I am in the area again.:)
Sake was unique and delicious. Some really good flavor profiles. Vibe was very nice, even had games at each table and arcade games in the back. Staff great and charming. The food was good. The only food we didn't like was the tofu, it had a very weird texture. But the ramen, potato, chicken was tasty. Don't take sake home with you unless you are going to drink it immediately. Taking a star off because my sake exploded. As did all of my friends. Just be warned of the possibility of an explosion for the keve.
Such a joy to come here! The food is great, the soba noodles are savory Asian comfort food, and enjoyed the miso pho this time. I love the outdoor seating with space heaters too. Between the food, great music, games, and a fun eclectic atmosphere this is an awesome place to hang out. If you're in the Delaware Water Gap area stop by or otherwise it is worth a trip of its own.
Very long wait for food. Couldn't finish ramen even though I was starving. The broth was very bland with mountains of scallion piled on it. The egg was over cooked and not marinated properly. Gyoza was very rubbery, again, buried in scallion, and with stench of untreated pork. So much raw scallion gave me bad breath and headache.
Instance Ramen and frozen Gyoza bought from Asian store tasted better.
Edit* I've tried again. And loved it again! I'm so happy that everything is back to normal and that was just a bad episode. Everyone who enjoys ramen should try that place!
Ok so that was my #1 spot for about 7 months, I was ordering takeout every weekend spending 50-80$, loved everything but my favorite was Tan tan ramen. About 3 weeks ago I've had this same thing but it wasn't so good as always was but I thought that maybe chef had worse day or whatever, there where new young people who didn't know anything in the front. Anyways I was there this weekend as well, ordered 2 ramens with extra egg as usual, young girl told me it will be in 20 min, great, after 25min she told me 10 more minutes, ok. After that she's giving me my bag and say "sorry we are out of eggs" I said ok but I ordered 2 extra and pay for that and she was like yeah I know but we don't have any, bye. Lol so I went home and then my sadness and disappointing went up to the moon. Ramen was really not good, noodles overcooked badly, I get 2 small pieces of meat (there was always a lot), no egg, a lot of seaweed, no salt. I mean I was really disappointed and that was only thing I have to eat after very long and hard day and I was not able to even eat this. Sake is great though.
I had the yaki soba with tofu. It was seriously the best dinner I've had in a long time!
Best locally brewed Sake. It’s one of the only 24 Sake breweries in the US as heard from the staff. Small town-great vibe restaurant/brewery!
It tasted kindve off, but edible. But nothing that was advertised was actually in the ramen. There was no cashu pork, it was just pulled pork, there was no bamboo shoots, the shoyu ramen just tastes like straight up soy sauce instead of actual shoyu ramen. Very disappointing.
If you’re looking for good ramen, this is not the place to go. I ended up getting a kit to go to make at home and it was very mid. We didn’t get as advertised and everything was the same one note flavor. I got the shoyu ramen which just tastes like soy sauce water, I got some version of pulled pork instead of the advertised chashu pork (and yet, even being braised and sitting in a soup, the pork was still DRY) and I was missing the bamboo shoots that come with it. I really don’t mind having to replace certain ingredients in my meal but that should be a conversation up front. Disappointing because I was really excited to try this place.
Wow, who would have known this gem of a ramen and sake bar was hidden in this little town in the Poconos? !? My family came in for dinner after a hike and we ordered some appetizers, ramen, and soba noodles (wasn't sure what the kids would eat so ordered a variety of things for them to try). Everything was absolutely delicious and the ramen was probably the best I've had in my (admittedly limited) experience. It was clear that everything was homemade, but still our food all came out quickly. We even got some fresh uncooked noodles and sake to bring home!
Interesting drink. Sake flight and japanese cuisine. There is outside seating and it's nice to look at the street with Harley Davidson riders passing by.
I was very surprised to find a Japanese restaurant serving Ramen out in a small town in PA. Had to give it a try. Here's what I had: Tonkotsu Ramen and a side of kim chee.
Noodles: 9/10 Was very shocked at the quality of noodles. The US has a major quality deficiency in noodles all over the country. The noodles here are exceptional. A lot of body, and just a bit of bite for texture. It's either a good supplier or the chef did a fantastic job preparing them. Or both, Japanese restaurateurs take note.
Broth: 7.5/10 I can tell good work went into the broth, if you look at the pic you can see lipids rising to the top. Always a good sign of flavor. Unfortunately I couldn't taste it, it was overpowered by the toppings.
Toppings: 6.5/10 Too much going on and the combination of different toppings completely masked the broth, as a result thr bowl lost it's identity as Tonkotsu Ramen. The pork itself was similar to pulled pork, a common thing that American Japanese Restaurateur's like to spin on Tonkotsu Ramen. Not my cup of tea, but the pork still tasted good.
My advice is to revise the toppings and greatly increase the quality of the toppings and you'll be looking at an exceptional bowl of ramen.
Besides that, this restaurant brews their own sake, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you!
100%. 10 outta 10 delicious! Hard to find a vegetarian broth with flavor, but they nailed it. Sake was light and enjoyable. Staff and owners are super nice. Location is great with plenty of outdoor seating. Will absolutely go back!
After Reading some of the reviews & the responses I've seen from the owners, i was definitely very hesitant to come in and try this place.
I Manage restaurants my self and am aware how bad a review looks, vs.what actually happened. So I decided to give it a try!
I was very pleased with the food i got, my boyfriend and i went one Wednesday and got a free appetizer with the purchase of a sake fight! We were very pleased with all the food. We both got ramen, and it was absolutely delicious. The vibe of the restaurant is very fun and different from all the restaurants in area.
I would recommend it and definitely will be returning!
Sake were pretty good but food was just ok. And the food containers were weird and the atmosphere was a little bit awkward. It was nice to see retro items, but overall it was a very cluttered atmosphere. The staff were friendly though.
Well let's start with why 1*. Heard about this place last year and finally was able to visit them.was excited to taste SAKE. I would like send this message to owners that please don't ruin such a gem you have with bad service.it was Saturday and we saw only one girl serving.she was good and trying to serve everyone.nothing against her. It was her manager we have complain against.her attitude was very rude when we asked her where is our food which we ordered 45 minutes ago.again we understand when restaurant is short on staff.at least the manager should have courtesy to explain to there customers.instead of rudeness!
Now about the SAKE I can give 4 to 5 stars
Owner.saw your answer.unfortunately it was not helpful.if you want to run your business like this. Good luck!
SO good! A unique spot with fun music and retro arcade games in awesome DWG. Great eats and beverages. You have to make a stop to check them out. Where else can you get homemade ramen, along with sake and beer both brewed on site!? Yumm!
