Attended recently and had a poor experience. Booked for four with carts and under the impression that we were all set. On arrival, we were told arrogantly that we couldn’t drive the carts under 21. There was no compassion or sense of customer service. We go outside and ask the first pair we see with a cart and they respond that they are 19 & 20. At that point we were frustrated and wanted to get a refund to get it over with since there was no update of this information and previous experiences did not have this rule. At first we were told we can either walk or get a refund; we choose a refund and was then told that we couldn’t receive it until three days later. We all are 18, legally driving on the roads for some time now. I get that others our age are irresponsible but don’t punish everyone else; implement a waiver or something if it’s truly that bad. I get the idea that 18 year olds are “irresponsible” but I would believe we are better drivers and less liability than the 21 year olds drunk driving the cart for 18.

Update: Still haven’t received the refund a week later

Paid for the tee time and golf cart online. When we got there we were told we can either walk or get a refund since we’re 18. Doesn’t make sense how I can legally drive my car but can’t drive a golf cart to play golf. Little upsetting because I’ve been there previously and had no problem with getting a golf cart.

Been going here for up to a year now. Every time I come here I’m able to drive a cart. But I go to play golf and am told to walk or leave because I’m not 21. I’ve been driving the carts here for almost a year. No problem. Then I go there 2 days ago and am met with attitude and disrespect. I’ve never seen such unprofessional workers.

The phone is always busy, then when you do call, they put you on hold for 30 minutes before they take your reservation.

Good round of golf. We had to play front 9 twice. The back 9 were under water. Greens were great.

I've played at Sawmill a few times in prior years and had not been back for some time. I always liked the course, the layout and variety of holes. My experience on the day we went was not representative of my prior visits however. But I think the course is definitely worth a visit - the course is approachable for beginners but also holds a challenge through elevation changes for more experienced golfers.

Thought I would edit my above review since the owner took time to respond with a very thorough message. Also because my original response was not meant to be callous or harsh - but it was the experience, however isolated it might be, I had. I've played for over 35 years, am not a scratch golfer (shoot low 90's) but have limited opportunities to play which probably contributed to my original review.

Played for the first time. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves.
The course was better than we expected. We will be back.

Tee `em high and let `em fly!

This course builds confidence like no other. You'll definitely be back again once you've played this course. Toughest holes are #1, #5 & #12
Have A Great Round.

This golf course has made improvement over the years. There is now added blacktop throughout the property to promote consistent golf cart traffic and reduce the wear and tear in certain areas of the course.
The greens have gotten a bit faster this year to my surprise. In prior years, Sawmill had a reputation for slow rolling green, however, visually they mostly don't show many ballmarks. And they heal rather well.
Not a bombers golf course, but perfect for those new to the game as well as those who don't like lengthy golf courses. Don't let the shorter length fool you; there are 4 or 5 holes that will eat your lunch if you get too overconfident.
For those who like to walk, greens fees are good all day. All in all friendly staff and a suitable destination for those who appreciate an old school humble golf experience.
