Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple reviews
17The NEPA philharmonic orchestra Christmas show was really great. A wonderful way to celebrate the season!
A beautiful and historic building. I wouldn't mind exploring a little if it were allowed!
This building is beautiful outside. It has nice architectural structure. Sadly, whoever manages the plays here is not organized. The last 2 shows I have attended had issues. "Blue Men" started 35 minutes late. The show for today "On your Feet" got CANCELED after having people waiting for 50 minutes. They said it was because the stage crew/actors were not ready. I think they just blame them for the lack of coordination. These plays are not amateur productions. They are "Broadway" quality, so why they are never ready on time? They have the patrons standing in the hallway, and outside. Many who come here are seniors. They have to wait for at least 30 minutes before they open the doors to the theater. What a joke! Poor management. Thanks to the seniors (volunteers?) who work here.
UPDATE: Thank you for the answer from the owners/management. We got a refund. We got season tickets. I hope our next shows have a better preparation from the production team.
Very beautiful inside! A lot of history.so much great stuff to look at. Great for concerts. Friendly staff. Just wish they did more then a couple of shows a year. Love the plays and a great location.
The Blue Man Group put on a FABULOUS show as usual, and we were not disappointed. Entertaining and mesmerizing-they are a one of a kind show for sure. The Scranton Cultural Center is a beautiful venue, but we were herded like cows and could hardly move for about 40 minutes inside while waiting for the show to start, which happened to be about a half hour late. I realize that things happen and sometimes shows don't start when they are supposed to, but the ushers kept asking us to squeeze and squeeze in some more. You couldn't life your arms without elbowing someone. Unacceptable, especially considering the lingering Covid factor and some of the elderly that were having a hard time standing so squished for so long.
Great place to see off Broadway shows - top notch- beautiful historic building.
Current show On Your Feet "Gloria Estanfon Story" was excellent- beautiful set design plus singers were unbelievable- the best!
I attended the guitars and star concert. This facility needs more supervision and ushers. Could not enjoy or hear the performers due to 3 loud drunk girls that kept screaming in our area. Everyone in our area kept telling them to take it down a notch. No secuity or ushers around to quell the situation. Stay away from this place.far far away.
I went to seer the Wyoming Valllley Paranormal show. The Cultural is very is beautiful and the restrooms are spotless.
The Scranton Cultural Center is the most gorgeous venue this area has to offer. My wedding was in the ballroom, a huge open space, perfect for my 200 guests. We had cocktail hour on the balcony of the ballroom, which is a very cool feature. We were able to rent a piano for the music during cocktail hour, too! The building is gorgeous, with many rooms to take photos in. Karen and Kelly were amazing to work with – our meetings prior to the wedding were productive and organized, and the day of the wedding went so smoothly thanks to them! We provided many decorations to be set up, and like magic, it was done perfectly. The day was an absolute dream come true! Thank you, Karen, Kelly, and the Cultural Center!
Cancelled the show we booked months in advance two days before claiming staffing shortages. However I would expect the real reason to be lack of ticket sales based on the number of seats that were still available. I understand things happen it’s just rather discouraging as we were out of towners with a nonrefundable hotel room.
Very historic place.but definitely needs some renovations. Its a shame that ceiling tiles (i think ceramic) are ready to fall down onto the audience. A little upkeep and it could be restored to it original Grandeur.
Beautiful place and staff was very helpful as it was our first time here and didn't know where to go. Seats are really close together and the place definitely needs some renovations.
The customer service at the Scranton Culteral Center is not the best. We had tickets for this evenings performance of Cats to find out that our show was rescheduled. After calling the phone number to exchange our tickets we were told we had to do it at the box office after I told the woman I purchased the Tickets through Ticketmaster. She said I had to do it at the box office and they close at 5pm. After driving 30 minutes to get there a rude person said he could not help us. I tried explaining to him that this was what we were told to do and he was very rude to both my daughter who drove there and to me on when I called on the phone. He said they were extremely busy. My daughter who was still there said there was no one there they weren't busy. Very disappointed at this moment. Ticketmaster will not allow us to do this using the phone so we need to get to a computer now. Again, have better training for your Customer Service Reps! If it would allow no stars that is what I would give! Update: We did receive a call from a Jason at the Culteral Center and he was helpful. He stated that they are looking into the issues of their Box Office reps.
Beautiful architecture! Scranton is a beautiful city. Always a pleasure to see a show here!
An asset to Scranton! Beautiful venue, that hosts many events. From Broadway theater league, to dance recitals, wedding's, and home of a youth theater program. Wonderful staff, as well.
It's a beautiful building! A few years ago we saw a musical there and it's a great venue to watch a show.
Saw the Beatles tribute band, "Rain. "" Fabulous show (again) but they sounded better in this facility than others I've seen them at. People were extremely nice and helpful. They do do that stupid on line ordering (which I absolutely hate instead of will call but because of covid now everyone's using an excuse that they can't do it anymore, but I digress.) Place is absolutely spectacular with historic charm, old time elevator, unique theatre and more. Will very much look forward to coming back for some other shows and their upcoming f classic Broadway productions
