Shady Maple Smorgasbord reviews
19The food was cold today. But usually a great place to go. Today not so much and especially at 49.00 for two for lunch. Not so much.
Standard buffet food, not Pennsylvania Dutch style at all. Over priced for what it is.
Might as well have gone to Golden Corral.
This place is amazing. Good variety and good desserts. We brought my dad here for the first time and he was blown away. I've never seen my dad so animated over some food. Haha
It was amazing! The food, the decor, and the gift shop were more than I could have hoped for. The prices were great also.
If you don't get full here it's differently not there fault. Homemade delicious food. Come here everytime we get to come to Lancaster
Some of the food choices don't seem fresh, for example, baked cod felt more like jerkey cod. Steaks were pretty fatty. Other items were really good, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans for example. Salad bar was very good.
The food was tasty. I did dinner but heard very very good things about breakfast. It was $50 for me and my guest together. It was pretty much like any other buffet I have been to in Pennsylvania just a bit more expensive. The place is huge but there's like a left side and a right side from center, the foods are almost identical on each side I found very few exceptions of foods being on one side of the buffet that we're not on the other and by very few I mean like three so the size of the buffet is a bit deceptive compared to the different types of food that they have. One thing that I had expected to see an Amish country that was not there was chicken and dumplings. It was a good experience though and they had Delmonico steak which was excellent. Bathrooms were very clean.
Too expensive, with the small amount of food choices offered, BUT it’s nice to be able to get the stuff yourself and the shop is nice.
ULTIMATE BUFFET, the food was delicious and it's worth every $$ if you eat at least 1-2 plates of food and dessert. If not, DON'T bother wasting your money. The staff was nice, except for the tall man with gray/white hair at the register seemed to be a part time employee that was just there for the paycheck. Not friendly at all.no hello, how may I help you, next.nothing. He barely waved his hand for my daughter and I to come over to his register.
SMS this is a customer service environment so you should have staff as friendly as the hostess on the register.a smile, hello, something.
This is the best buffet I've ever been to. It was huge and had a great selection of food. I've never seen this before but this place had 3 kinds of birch beer; incredible. They had every soft drink you could possible imagine and the food was delicious.
Do you like food? Do you like lots of food? Yes? Then this is the place for you. Plenty of good, old-fashioned food. Delicious, plentiful, with a choice for everyone. It's a one of a kind buffet experience. Don't miss it.
It had been many years since I had been to the Shady Maple and was excited to finally take my husband and son there. I would say we are not picky eaters by any means but the price for two adults and a child is not worth the price.
My mom and I went to Shady Maple because I’ve always wanted to try it for years. Now the food is good but I wouldn’t say everything was amazing. However, the fried shrimp, crab cakes and the brisket were pretty good! I might have to come for breakfast because that seems to be the highest rated.
More quiet than you would expect for such a large restaurant, not once did I have to ask for something on the bar to be refilled and the food was actually fresh.
As far as buffet goes: not up to the hype. Featured foods like steaks were low quality. Deserts and such tasted low quality manufactured. Neutral: Salad bar of similar quality to others. Negative: Waiters didn't bring/refill drinks and the walk was long to get to the buffet tables compared with other buffets. Tips are also pre paid so no incentive for good service (plates pile up which is the only thing servers do!). Seating felt like a cafeteria or large wedding venue.
All things considered, I was disappointed. I was pleased with Manor House and Golden Corral as a reasonable value (albeit also low quality deserts and such still an issue) but I felt as if I received what I paid for. Shady Maple not at all, I would consider it for $10-$15 entry price not $20-25.
Many foods are at or below Golden Corral level. About the same number of the types of food. The same food is seen in two places because of the size of the building. We didn't have any problem finding a table. All the desserts were disappointing. The salad bar and fried foods were alright but the rest was mediocre.
The place was crowded as hell! I don't mind People but People are ready to stampede you to get at the food. Food was cold until I got past the crowd and got things I needed (butter) (condiments) etc. Gift shop is great but expensive! Found a I Love Lucy wallet
Delmonico steak was not tender, chicken wings tended to be a little on the rubbery side. French fries were excellent. The stuffing leaned toward the excellent.
I ate several "meals" each worth the cover price! The Cajun catfish I got was super tender, juicy and flavor packed! I also got a second helping of the smoked brisket which was melt in your mouth good. Just about everything you could imagine there to eat. This was my first time not coming at breakfast (which is also great!) The seating line is usually moderate (they're typically fairly busy on weekends) and the Covid gloves are just a pain, but totally worth the eats!
