Shing Kee reviews
13The chef had funny way to put together any dish, beef with raw chunks of tomato for $40, fish fried then dump some boiled green veg, soaked with dilute soya sauce, fried rice vermicelli with spoked preserved sausage, little meat, soup tastes like salted water, v chop suey style. Not Chinese food if you are Chinese, maybe that's Philly shortcomings for the real Chinese food in China town.
Easy to overlook this place, but you shouldn't- because the food is EXCELLENT here! The lobster is amazing, the duck is tasty, and the fried rice is great also!
Trust the waiters and their suggestions, and tip well. The food is excellent and mostly Hong Kong style. Lots of amazing options and flavors.
The Hong Kong lobster in particular is unforgettable.
This restaurant offers high quality food for a very low price! The atmosphere is very similar to what a restaurant in China would be like. New favorite! Want to eat here everyday!
If you want “ambience” and the tablecloth experience… Don’t go here… If you want authentic Chinese food that’s absolutely delicious… then go here… they have a huge variety of things… The vegetables are also good here… Good prices and good portions… i’ve traveled throughout China… This reminds me of a simple place in Shanghai or Chengdu …

The food was amazing and on top of that quick service the food was fresh and they really hit attention to detail on service. Shing kee is definitely going to be one of my go to spots. They keep it consistent every time I come here. If you want some good food that's the place to be I'll take care of you
This is authentic Chinise food, everything tastes great. The service was good as well, and the servings are great for sharing.
The chicken was not what I expected. It tasted like rubber. The Singapore foo mein I think. Overpriced.
The food was very very good. But the service is the reason why I can't give the establishment 5 stars. The waiting staff seemed to be attentive to every table besides ours and it has been like that both times I have been there. I think next time I will do take out to avoid that. I would still recommend it because the food is delicious.
Great food, today was our first tiime eating from this place, the service was excellent, i really recomend this place
I have to say that this place truly is a hidden gem. I went to this restaurant with my in-laws and the food was amazing. They have live lobsters, crabs, and eels (yes, eels!) in fish tanks so the seafood can’t be any fresher. The only inconvenience is that if you can’t speak Chinese or vietnamese, it’s going to be hard to order due to the language barrier. If you are okay with that, definitely check it out. This place offers quality food for low price.
I love this restaurant’s food and the servers are nice and attentive. I went with my parents and friends. They always offers top notch foods and newer menu, usually closer to your taste depending where you come from so it’s great! My family are their repeated customers so you should come by and try their food. I would recommend the following: fried noodles and lobsters, hotspot, fish maw soup, Shrimp with Honey Walnuts & Mayonnaise Sauce, stuffed fried fish this is MP so price is according to how big the fish is, fried rice with garlic, seaweed tofu soup is also good if you’re into seaweed, watercress cooked with garlic and for appetizer it’s up to you but their spring roll is nice. So basically a lot of their food are great and you can make requests on how your food can be cooked.
Hi so just went in about 4pm Saturday February 20th 2021 i ordered some general tso chicken and rice first they said they dont do any sides they tried to charge me for rice an extra $8 that is.so i ask for a sprite they bring out a can tried to say $2 for it whatever thats fine but $5.50 for a bottle of soda i get this is in south philly but it isnt the stadiums so i get my food its not done correctly the chicken is squishy and tasted undone and the sauce was extremely watery that has to be the worst general tso chicken i ever had so sorry i had to write this review but this is unacceptable prices are highway robbery and my food was discusting please get back to me so we can make this right if not then i will never eat here again i guess. Again sorry but this isn’t acceptable customer service. I ate here originally because i play pool down the street so i was at the pool hall and went to get food.
